Vibro axe again. (See post #129 - #132)

Well, I wish you luck, with your project.

I have posted the only templates (earlier in this thread) I have been able to find for the blade, and other parts. Many of us, have waited a very long time for someone to do a run, in metal, or even just resin, but it just never seems to happen. I myself had hoped to offer a resin run someday, but that is looking, more, and more unlikely.

there was a guy online offering replica vibros, mostly to Slave leia's, but his site was very unhelpful.

I met a guy at a con with a very nice vibro. (other then the fact that it was about 2 feet too long) I told him "I have been working on one of them for years, and that I had this thread. His replay was "the plans are on the Internet, if you look for them." and walked off. Didn't give me any tips, tricks, web sites, and thing. :(

Zorg, and others in this thread have been, very, very, VERY, helpful, but most everyone else I have met that has a finished one, is not. So I really do hope that someone post very good plans for you (and the rest of us) but after 12 years of looking into this, and all the years this thread alone have been up, I wouldn't hold your breath. (I'm not saying it wont happen, I'm just saying you may want to start working something up yourself.)

Jason are you just stuck on the Axe blade?? Do you have everything else?

i used 5mm solid aluminium bar (its easier to bend) it looks right to me. don't use a tube it will deform.

you have to remember you can use the hairdryer as known sizes plus the 1inch diameter bar. takes a lot of the guess work out of it.

**edit, looks like i used a steel bar, i forgot ok, it was a while ago :p

Did anyone ever identify the large (+) bolts? The ones on C3P0's pelvis?

There's a Cannon plug on the Vibro-Ax too. Similar to the one on the Y-Wing helmet.

The large (+) bolts almost look like a filler plug for a cast electrical box actually.

That would be sweet. I have PMd the people about the soaker and Yamaha part. I was thinking about offering a run of completed axes but that would depend on how well mine came out. I also have a run of my Begins Grapple Guns starting on the first so not sure about time.

As props go this is not that hard.

I'm not understanding the trouble with the blade. I printed out the template. Sized it up to match the great measurements Zorg put on here. Now just cut out a bunch of pieces of plastic and wood, stack, glue, screw, and sand.

Easy. Not seeing that as a sticking point. Resin for the axe may be risky as it is a large piece at the end that may get knocked on stuff. Plastic and wood is what I'm gonna use.

We got a great tutorial on the side pipe thing. The only thing left off was rounding the tops of the Co2 cartidges to match the real prop but otherwise great tutorial.

Great pics of the Han blaster part that needs to be cut.

Great tutorial on the Vader bar.

All info needed on the hair dryer and the end

Source for the soaker and the Yamaha knob, hopefully

Awesome tutorial and info on the end of the pipe piece

The only question left is the cord wrap.

Otherwise we are good shape

Yes, and no.

Yes, we have a template, you can print out, and do in wood, and plastic. (I actaully have got that far myself with the blade.) However, some will wont resin. (I know I would like one) And the person who made our template has said himself, that it is off, and that there are things he would change. What they are, I don't know, it looks great to me, but I know how fussy follks around here can be.

The pipe, Some like an actual 1" aluminum pipe, some like a so called 3/4" PVC pipe, witch is actually just over 1" in outer diameter. This means if there parts are made for the aluminum pipe they will have to be modded to fit the PVC if that is the way the buy wants to go, and if it were made for the PVC, then it would be a little too big for the aluminum pipe. (think I'm being silly? Well, my resin, soaker is too big for my aluminum pipe, because It was drilled out for a PVC pipe and I will have to fill that space.

Wall the soaker, and Yamaha part were offered in the past does not mean they will be offered in the future, or at the "right" time. Unless things have changed the person offering the soaker castings, only tended so offer castings from any of his molds in the summer time. (I think, like me, he has to do it some where [like outside] that is effected by weather)

The dryer would be a rather large enough of resin, to waste on a found item, but they are getting hard to find.

The tutorial I have posted for the tip, is to make a passable one, not a dead on accurate one, and the found object they used for the accurate tip is about impossible to find. (at least in some parts of the country. ) And the "Vader rod" on the actual prop, is actually a bit different then any of Vaders actual rods. These should be machined for a run, if possible. (they would be really fragile in resin.) It would be nice if someone (either the person who offered a run, or someone working with them) tried to contact the maker of the part, and saw if a bulk/group order could be made.

The blaster part is easy enough to find.

The side Phillips/bolty/thing, is easy too. I actually did another batch that turned out much better then the first one. I would be happy to send one to who ever wants one, or to Zorg for casting in resin (instead of the sculpty I offer it in), as part of the run. :)

The wrap I personally am not wearied about. (everyone sees it a little different, and wants it too look like what they themselves see.)

As for the pipe thingy on the side of the blade......... I love that old tutorial with the Co2 cartridges. (infarct I think I have one of those around here somewhere) But it's fare from accurate. (no offince to it's maker, who is someone I like, and respect a lot) It is over sized a bit, and the over all shape is not accurate at all. The it should be more rounded at the ends, and the parts in the sinter are not quite right. A new one made from scratch, or machined would be best, to do castings from, for a run.

So, yeah, you could do a passable one from scratch, with the info here, and/or do castings of those parts for a run, but no, it that alone will not make you a 100% accurate vibro axe, for that, we need to get some stuff machined, and tweaked a bit first.

I'm just saying. :)

All I'm missing is the 'Vader' rod thingy before I can put everything together. I'll have some free time next month so I'll be making a few 'blades' from scratch. If anyone has new info/template to make it more accurate, I would really appreciate it if it could be shared in this thread...

I'll be making two axes; one short and one long.

The side Phillips/bolty/thing, is easy too. I actually did another batch that turned out much better then the first one.
I already have a few from your first batch, but wouldn't mind getting a couple of the improved version either. :)

Sure, just PM me your mailing addresses, and I'll mail them out, as soon as I figure out were I put them. (I made them up over a year ago, and put them aside here somewhere. Hey I can always make more if I have too. :))

They are basicaly the same as the frist batch, but the "X" is cleaner on this batch. (the first batch has a small flaw in on side of that part) I was hopping to use these to make a mold, and do them up in resin, but I never got around to it. I wanted to wait until I had a had full of stuff to cast. It's not easy for me to get good resin around here, and i didn't want to order a bunch of it, just to cast these knoby things. My original offer from the first batch stands too, if anyone wants to "recast" these PLEASE do so. I would love it if someone were to make molds of them, and offer them in resin. (though it would be nice if that person offered me a couple in resin, before they start selling them to everyone else. :)

You are the man.
When I start work on my Grapple Gun run I am going to be doing my extra mags in resin so If I can make them come out decent I'll make them out of Resin based on your sculpt and sent out a couple to anyone who wants them. Gift to the Vibro Axe world. But that will be end of January/Febuary Time frame.

Would be interested in one of the X-bolts as well...any left in stock?

Thanks, Markus :)

Oh, yeah, I made like 8 to 10 in the last batch, and I still have like 5 left from the first batch, and I can always make more. As long, as my little pipe doohicky, I made, holds up, I can just keep making them. So anyone that wants a sculpty bolt PM me. Though if the whole casting thing works out for jameth1971 they would be even better. If you prime them first, the sculpty ones will take paint just fine, but resin ones would paint up even better, and are much more durable.

The side Co2 not Co2 thingy.

The ends go into the axe. The tope one seems to go straight into the axe.

The bottom one seems to go into something and that something is in the axe.

Any idea what it is?
