Veritaserum Bottle

Wouldn't you know it, the day after I picked up my repoduced bottles, I found an original:

This is an Antique French perfume bottle (1890s) I got from a small antiques place in Michigan. It's the only one they had.

Here it is along side my completed reproduction:

Considering I only had grainy pictures to work from, it's a reasonable copy, but it is round instead of octagonal. It is possible to grind the facets on the glass, but that's not a skill I possess at the moment :lol

Anyone have ANY information on this bottle? I'm trying to research it on line, but not much to go on.

Are there any markings on the bottle that may help me better identify it? I've recently gained an obsession of finding one. I've had no luck.

That is wild that you found that bottle in an antique store...seems like fate! How awesome is that. I like all of your bottles, they're really cool

That's amazing that you found that in a store. And you have an impressive collection. Love the memory vials. Also, what is that crumpled page from?

That fang inspires me to create my own.
The tree in my back yard has a similar colour after being stripped and sanded, and luckily, there is a pile of branches we chopped down so I should be able to find a suitable one to craft my very own fang out of.

I'm pretty sure the basilisk fang was actually resin. I remember seeing one of the fangs on Prop Store of London years ago, and it was resin. If it wasn't something like $900, it would have been mine. Granted, they could have cast it from a horn, but I'm doubtful.

Either way, your wood fang is just beautiful.

Apologies for the delay in responding. I've been slammed at work, and also experience a medical opportunity.:sick

Robert412 - Unfortunately there are no markings, and an obsession is pretty much how my wife described my search. Google and eBay searches practically everyday for about 6 months. (One dealer told me these come up for sale about once every 2 years). Use terms like: antique, "perfume bottle", "scent bottle", hinge*, green ...

Ruari - That's a "Basilisk page" - the one Hermione has in CoS. My copy was made by Juno - I sure wish I had her talent!

poisonivyism - I don't know much about or have the equipment to make casts. I do have saws and sandpaper though :).

BTW - I made another that looks more like the one being displayed:

This is made of aspen wood from Lowes, roughed-out with a bad saw and then drum sanded. I used some walnut stain on the sides and some mahogony stain on the "broke-off" end.

I joined a perfume forum just to ask someone to identify it. Apparantly, it's not a specific brand. It's a personal decanter that is sold separately from perfumes. Not unlike the double ended ones used for the deluminator, but for home use.

...Love the memory vials...

Ruari - Here's the memory vial with the label added.

...where did you get the stand for your Felix Felices vial? ....
Allosaur176 - Here's a current picture of the stand with more accurate knobs and Felix Felicis vial. The stand is something I made. See STAND POST.

The vial shown is the 9th one I had made and the most accurate - IMHO. Here are 6 previous ones:

I'm trying to make a miniature clear green cast resin veritaserum bottle. I can't get the color right. Anyone have any suggestions for blue to yellow drop ratios to get this color?

Hi guys, i really wanna see the pictures of the bottle but it seems all the attachments are broken. Is there any way to fix them?

Hi! So sorry to bother you, I saw your post about the veritaserum bottle and was wondering if you could be so kind as to send me/post some extra pictures when you have a second. It would really mean the world!

elenabice Gosh I hadn't realized that I found that bottle over 10 years ago. The first picture is one of the 3 I had made by a glassblower. The second is the one I found.
