SAVING FACE as you say is not something new - honour goes way back before foreigners turned up AFAIK - its not a new thing but a internal cultural aspect of their personalities.
Ive found saving face doesnt go as far as you might think and theres plenty examples where it doesnt apply. Watching Japanese news reports there are plenty of stories of shame and greeed etc.
One reason I think the culture is typically more respectful than western people is Im betting their average IQs are higher. Just an observation - certainly the average Japanese and the average Scotsman I spend time with I find this to be true. The schooling system is part responisble for the calm demeanor they exhibit, but also the quality of schooling is far superior to the UK in my experience. Certainly they dont mess about, but oddly have much larger classes. 45-50 in my sons class 1 teacher and an assistant....maybe an assistant all the time Im not sure.
Also the huge numbers of people walking the streets at any point in Tokyo means you just cant avoid the typical UK nutter you find on the street. Ive spent over a year in tokyo in the last few years. It is a different world - coming back to the UK you feel youve travelled back in time. The nastiness thats in the UK runs deeper than these new laws resticting sales could ever fix.
The toys or kitchen knifes and fists people use to cause trouble are not the problem. I think people reaslise their futures are very bleak and use whats to hand to lash out.
Spending some time in more civilised countries makes you see the UK is FUBARd. Its a society thing. I dont want my kids to grow up in the UK for fear of them becoming *$$H0LE$$ or worse.

My wife was a student teacher in Florida and she was required to learn spanish so she could teach the non-english speaking kids... :confused
Too bad my dad (and my two uncles) had to actually learn english before he could pass any grade...Same with my grandparents when they needed a job.

We have here is a Mexican Invasion, a conquest going on, Google The Mexican Invasion and see.
I am talking about for the first time in our history we are being made to make special changes for them, to go bilingual, to let them stay illegally, to pay billions in health and living support.
Our grandfathers had to learn English, to become Americans and work to get any thing!!
I am talking about the ones that do not want to become Americans but want to make us become Mexicans.
I am talking about a take over. I live in AZ it is really happening, or was, we seem to be waking up and putting a stop to it.
Barely in time, but we were lucky, they started to protest for MORE Rights and MORE free things and we woke up to how over board these so call demands are.

I think its fair to say that the world, as a whole , is no longer made up of just 'race' but 'continents' in which to live.
People are (relitively) free to come and go in a democratic society, and divisions between 'race' and indigenous 'race' are no longer, and never will be again, as definitive as they were years ago.
Britain definately has lost its individuality as a result of this, but living in a city as diverse as London, its also possible to see the benefits.
I think there will be major problems as to supporting both visiting and indiginous populations in the future.
The commedian Eddy Izzard once did a very good sketch on us Brits abroad 'Course you can speak English, c'mon you're just not trying hard enough'
Anyway, BACK ON TOPIC , Ive ordered a Metal Samaritan, so lets hope it gets shipped to me in the UK .............

When it comes to gun crime in the UK, a lot of political wrangling constantly takes place. The truth, however, lies in the long-term statistics by analyzing a trend. After all, like the issue of global warming, unless a large dataset is evaluated (not a subset convenient to a given argument), the extrapolated information is anecdotal at best. Consequently, I pulled out the data that goes as far back as the Home Office has collected (from the Homicides, Firearm Offences and Intimate Violence 2006/07 [2nd edition] report). I'll allow those who look at this information to come to their own conclusions about homicides in the UK regardless whether or not they're committed with a firearm:

Cultures get into a habit of raising their children a certain way, which ultimately leads to repeat incidencies throughout their history. But to attribute that to intelligence is an absolute slap to the face of any person of ANY race who has risen above that and learned to think for themselves.

Note to governments, stop trying to make the world "safer" by infringing on the law-abiding citizens.
Buck Up and deal with or eliminate the repeat offender criminals.
