UK bans the import of *anything remotely harmful*...

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Nice to see Deacts are exempt.

:thumbsup

I suggest if someone has their E-11 confiscated - they turn up in court dressed in their armour to show how stupid the whole situation is. :wacko

Cant be any more embarrassing than a street parade surely?

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Well, BIG kudos to the Propstore and GTA for being on the case. If worse comes to worse, maybe everyone just needs to get a camcorder and start making fan films!

Re: UK bans the import of replica props...

I haven't heard anything new, except that the airsoft lobby have still not had the nature of their exemption clarified. Clearly getting information on this clause is like getting blood from a stone.

the text: Police Room Raiders Left Looking like Dummies

From correspondents in London
May 17, 2007 01:40am

WHEN police saw a gun-wielding suspect lurking in the shadows of a suburban front room, their response was swift.

Armed officers burst into the house, shouted at the owner to lie on the floor, and ordered him to surrender his weapon.

But efficiency turned to embarrassment when the "gunman" turned out to be a life-sized model of the video game character Lara Croft, complete with trademark outsized pistols.

Computer shop owner David Williams, 42, had taken the dummy home in Dukinfield, near Manchester, to put it up for sale on auction site eBay.

As the source of the confusion dawned on all concerned, it might have been the moment for an apology from the police.

Instead, Mr Williams was taken to the cells and held for more than 13 hours before being released.

He is now on bail for a suspected firearms offence and will hear whether he faces further charges next month.

Re: UK bans the import of replica props...

For a cardboard dummy cutout?????????????????

You say you don't live in a police state????

If that happen here the owner would be sueing them for the broken door and other damages, and winning.

Oh I know: Imagine living in France or Mexico, where (last I knew) they still use Napoleon Law, where if arrested you are considered guilty until proven innocent.
English and American law you are innocent until proven in court to be guilty.
It makes a big different how your treated.

Well it doesn't quite work out that way because until you are proven innocent in a court of law you are held in custody for weeks with other criminals unless you can afford bail.

Also there is the problem of trial by media.

Thanks for your comments and support guys but can we keep this one on topic please? :)

Re: UK bans the import of replica props...

Can you cut and paste - I'm banned from that forum :lol

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Why are people selling them? They're not being made illegal... :wacko
All those people that had them and had been thinking about selling for a while, will now all off-load at once - hence there is bound to be a bit of a spike in sales over the next few months.

Re: UK bans the import of replica props...

Will this cause a problem for Celebration Europe attendees taking their props with them to the UK?

Re: UK bans the import of replica props...

After October (if the law is enforced) you are not allowed to import replica guns into the UK.

If you bring a StarWars raygun with you you'll probably be OK.

Essentially this law is aimed at urban 'yoof' and the criminal element who use replicas in commission of a crime. Unfortunately it does it's job by also punishing innocent collectors and airsoft 'plinkers' who are not part pf a club.

But how many blasters in Star Wars look like "ray guns" ? Let's list them shall we...

Amidala's blaster
Jango's blasters
Bail Organa's sidearm
eh...
... hmmm
