UK bans the import of *anything remotely harmful*...

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

The idiocy of Propstore theoretically being able to sell a hero deac but not a rubber stunt shows how ill thought out thewhole thing is. Uininforceable, in its current state.

True, but that isn't going to help the poor guy that buys a Rebel Blaster with the big sci-fi barrel, thinking all is safe, but has it confiscated by an over-zealous customs agent.

Agreed. I think confisications and fines are likeyto be the biggest problem for us.

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Do Master Replicas et al know about this? It'll be killing a lot of their sales...

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

I want the MR bowcaster when it finally comes out surely that can't be a banned import!??

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Are crossbows banned?

At least the Star Trek and Space 1999 prop collectors are still able to collect their prop weapons.
Phasers and Laser Pistols look nothing like a real firearm.

But you always have to remember:

"If you Outlaw toy guns only Outlaws will have toy guns."

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Hmmmmm i wonder if the impending doom of the October ban is the cause of all the sudden guns/blasters appearing on Ebay ?????

TWO Richard Coyle Blade Runner blasters in the same week, MR elite Solo blaster, MR stormtrooper blaster, all of which you dont see that often here in the UK :eek :eek

This morning i started to unbox and photograph some of my MR blasters with the intention of off loading them (while i can) on Ebay, i only got as far as taking a few pics of my MR Solo elite when i thought, SOD IT, i just cant bring myself to do it :cry

There will always be a way round this stupid law, one way or another, right ?????

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

Why are people selling them? They're not being made illegal... :wacko

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

true, but after October your stuck with them, i doubt Ebay will allow such listings.

Time to start trading underground :ninja

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

I guess they might be trying to avoid any... "Imperial entanglements..." :love

Re: UK bans import of replica firearms...

I can tell you guys that Propstore is working with, and supported by, the Gun Trade association, to find away around this situation.

Already exempt from the bill are:

Supply to film or TV
Supply for Theatrical use
Supply to Gallery
Supply to Museum
Supply to for use in Reenactment

The GTA have been working to find exemptions from the bill for collectors and successfully had deacs removed.

It is possible that online collections may fall under the 'gallery' exemption, and the GTA is seeking claifications of such.

Clearly, any such clarifications could set a precadent or folk like us. I think these guys (Propstore and the GTA) are our best hope right now and have greater chances of establishing a work-around than guys like us on prop forums.

Great isn't it? You can buy a deactivated (real) firearm but not a plasticky prop one. Nevertheless, a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the info Birdie - keep us informed. :)
