So, this year my girlfriend and I decided to put our heads together and do a costume together. With her sewing skills and my foam prowess we decided to go big and do a Twilight Princess couple costume: Link and Zelda. Here's what I've got so far...

I've made some serious progress on Link's garb and gear, including a homemade template for his shield which is turning out a great product.

Also, I'm doing some major work on Zelda's incredibly detailed armor plates.

More progress to follow. I'm grateful for any constructive feedback.
Thanks!

So, I finished. Needless to say I managed to get it all done in time for Halloween. This will be my final progress report for this build. Here goes.

I started painting up the shield with a few coats of silver...

Then things broke down. I taped up for blue...

The tape ripped up a lot of silver and I had to go back in and retouch the whole thing with silver and blue acrylic. Then I painted up the tri-force gold, and went after the red details in the center of the shield. At this point, I didn't have time to paint on the red, so I had to cut the pattern out of a red tape sort of thing. It was almost like red, adhesive-backed paper. It was really effective. The result was this blurry, late-night photo:

I also painted up the back of the shield to look like wood and added some basic, but decent craft foam straps to the back.

I also finished up Zelda's armor pieces and jewelry with gold.

I also added a few gems to the Gold pieces, as well as added a few odds and ends pieces to Link, like a small key, two potion vials, and some shin bracers. I also painted up his vambraces and attatched them to some gloves. The result combined with no small effort from my amazingly talented girlfriend is this:

The most incredible Halloween costumes I have ever put together!
