Tron Legacy: the Other Props

Yeah I found this over YouTube - a guy wanted to copy the grid sequence and used the Sleeping Beauty Castle - there he posted the prologue link, where I found the other goodies like the iPad stlye GFX, I like the face of Bruce and his deadpan comment on "It's one web…" it had to be done, it had to be! But in a special style and I used my reconstructed Grid Font.

I just received my Flynn's Arcade token. I got to admit, it looks a lot better in person than it does in the picture. Now, maybe one day, when I can truly afford it, I'll get my hands on the ARG coins. :D

BTW, I have toyed around with an idea. Though the game is not canon to the films, I've thought about how cool it would be to have the Lightcycle rod and Jet's Disc from Tron 2.0. I know there's a papercraft model of Jet's disc, but I think a 1:1 scale would be a great replica to have.

Not to mention, I've even thought of doing a Legacy-ized version of what Jet's disc from the game would be like (sort of combining the styles of the discs). I found the perfect base (I bought two frisbees that I was going to cannibalize for a replica of Marty's Hoverboard from Back to the Future Part 2), but I don't know if I'll go through with it or not.

Was thinking about having a go at these, decided there was no way I could make them in any way functional (the stems moving, not the thing blowing up) apart from maybe lighting up, but even then there is a lot to pack in to a three inch ball.

DO IT!
I'm on the batons and will be doing the mines next. We need the complete Tron Armory on the RPF for sure !

I already got the end of line club guard mines 3d modeled. Just waiting on the bluray to double check a few things

If you can find a copy of the TRON: Legacy official movie magazine, you can compare it from there (as they have a picture of it)

You're probably right Megatron I'd have to get a good measure of the light buggy thing's rear end.
Anyone any ideas on making the stems actuate, solenoids or motors with cams maybe rack and pinion?

I'm torn between the CGI version used on the elevator door and the practical version the black guard ripped off of his suit.

The cgi version has 131 light teeth on the top.

The practical one has 118.

Dont understand why the practicals are not perfect 3d printed clones of the cgi versions.

I am wondering what else is different.

Is the one in the magazine Practical or CGI?

Damn! I knew I forgot something for the RPF:

It's definitely CGI - but I couldn't find any reference on "Inventing Interactive"

I'm assuming its practical, as the photos for the "Weapons" section has three ID Discs, Staff and the Baton listed, and by the way they look, they are certainly appear practical. But you may want to actually look at it yourself to see if my judgement is correct.

I knew the design was different from the coasters from the SDCC event.

Well here's what my light grenade replica looks like so far- based off of the practical version. Ignore the jaggy lines in the center. That is topographical error that occured when I imported the model into zbrush, and it will be corrected. It only has a few things left to tweak. I still have to make the teeth inserts that snap into the teeth holes and the tiny bumps on the center switch. I also need to clear up my 117 statement- actually 107 teeth on the top. That was a typo.

okay I missed it but what does ARG mean? I keep seeing it in all the Tron threads.

itsalive, that looks great. When you have more progress you may need to open a thread for it (and another in the JY!).

And for the sector.
I've tried to draw the sector but the picture is just too small. Maybe when the bluray is out there will be enough reference to make it happen.
