Tron Legacy Deluxe Identity Disc mods?

I actually have my whole system working on the original batteries that came with the disc now (still = 9volts). I was just using the 9v batt for testing purposes since it's easier, but it's really too big to fit in the disc. The 6 little button batteries light the whole thing up just as bright and they fit inside with room to spare! Not sure exactly how long they will last just yet.

Soul: I was looking to get a yellow CLU disc, not sure when/if a retail version will be released, so looking into modding options. If I used your method or ordered one of your kits, do you think yellow LEDs/EL Wire would light up a transparent outer ring, or would some dye be required in the re-casting?

I'd recommend LEDs over EL for the discs. You really need that high intensity light to shine through. On my CLU disc, the rings are translucent white with Amber/Yellow LEDs. I don't think a dye is necessary.

That inner ring is REALLY seperated in sections like how the slowmo part of the trailer shows it to look. I figured that was added in post to emphasise the fact that the disc is spinning.

I may have to attempt these mods when I eventually pick up one of the Sam discs and I really hope the Flynn and Rinzler dics get released here too. I am quite upset there is no Tron Pop up shop on the east coast tho

Soulinertia, I noticed that you cut out the white ring on the back of your disc. Would that hole fit a c ring from another disc or is it off a bit?

Actually, I think what your seeing are two separate top halves. I looked at cutting out the bottom side C ring, but I'd like to utilize the existing battery compartment for my mod. I might still try cutting out the remaining portions though to give it some light on the bottom side.

Hi guys, the movie went off, was amazing speaking of colour and sound, and then i got back to this forum and see your mods.

So far i'm astonish by the work, but as we are a month after latest post i was wondering where you were in your mods.

Also i was wondering if it would be possible to scrap a pico projector into a disk to be able to have kind of a holographic display coming from it, along with the storage capacity.
From my point of view it would be an amazing add-on to the disc and a step closer to what we can see in the movie.

So, what are you up to guys, and what do you think of new functionnalities for the disc ?

I saw a Rinzler disc at a San Jose Target the week. Anyone seen a Flynn stateside?

I found 2 Rinzler disc's randoly at a target, no Kevin yet though, I know someone that works for targer going to try to have them check.

Sideshow did indeed, there's a video with a prototype in one of the Legacy threads, BUT: nenox' is waay much better in lighting, while the prototype of Sideshow seemed to be a better version of the Deluxe toy.

the biggest challenge in my mod appeared to be showing how it was done to the point where others understand it, than actually doing the mod itself. glad for those that were able to accomplish it. ^_^

i'm also glad soulinertia is providing those castings to provide us more choice in mods. unfortunately at the moment it's out of my budget range & time -especially during the holidays.
