I'm still a little suprised we didn't get an official high-end replica of these released.

I am too!

Well, eFX does have the Disney license and are making a Classic Tron helmet. So this would definitely be a prop right up Bryan's alley.
Only downside is that we probably won't see it till next year. D'oh!

Hey everyone,

Been reading here for months (mostly that massive costume thread!) and wanted to share my disc mod.

I wanted mine to be animated and not solidly lit so was happy to find the mod posted by FreakT. The only downside to that one is that it's a permanent change to the functionality of the disc. So in order to retain the original and still get what I wanted out of it I did the following...

Soldered a wire to each of the spots on the motion sensor that lead over to a new switch.

Cut one of the wires from the speaker and then soldered a new wire onto the speaker that leads over to the new switch.

Soldered the red and black wires from the motion sensor to the new DPDT switch. Soldered the wire that was cut off of the speaker to the switch and the new wire from the speaker to the switch. The switch was placed in between the speaker and the motion sensor. This worked well for placement and usage when it's being held.

Here is the switch from the outside. The hole is a little rough and the switch is a little tall but it worked out pretty well for my first mod ever. This is also my first attempt at soldering. The switch in the "on" position makes the disc function as it does out of the package. When switched to the "off" position the disc will run through the animations and the speaker is bypassed.

I will try to get a video of the switch in action if anyone wants to see that.

Well congrats on your first post. It is a good one too. Very detailed I may PM you just to get some more detailed info on what you did and I for one would love to see a Video of your mod in action. It also looks really good for a first time ever attempt. I will freely admit my first soldering jobs did not come out that clean. Good Job and welcome to the board. I look forward to your next post.

Hello everybody,

I am new on the forum. My name is stephanie and i am french, so sorry for my english, it's very poor!!:lol

I have read during hours pages of this forum, it's so interesting!!!
Congratulations!!!

I have a disguised party in august and my boyfriend decided to disguise itsellf in Sam flynn.

He bought his tron deluxe disc and he would like to modificate it to have the lights continuously lighted.

So, I have a question concerning the mod on this topic. I talk about the Kingdomfiend mod made.

On the picture we understand that there are wires which must me connected to the battery on the left side of the picture, but on the right side there are 2 wires that we don't know where they must be connected.

The wires connected in R6 and the wire connected in R3 R4 R4 where are they connected then please?

Anybody can help me please?

Thank you very much.
Kiss.

this was my very FIRST attempt at a soder job, so its not pretty, but OMG it worked! :D you have no idea how happy I am

I did my disc with this mod (first soldering job ever) and it worked! Then two people asked me to do their discs. First one worked! Second one did not. the lights would not turn on at all. So, I broke open the packaging from the second disc I bought months ago and tried again. Once again, dead disc. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I know that's a bit vague, but really, I swear I did #3 and #4 just like the first two. They all look pretty much like the photo above. Did I do something that was painfully obviously wrong?
