Tron Legacy Costume

I had planned green transparency with white/green lights for my costume before I decided I'd cough up the funds for Light Tape. It should work, as well as using colored light in the white diffuse (this is what SoulInertia is doing with the discs he sells.) There really isn't any wrong way, just what works for your taste.

The problem is that stencils require all masking parts to be physically connected.
You can have a hexagon printed using a stencil, but not a hexagon with a hole in it.
At least not without a line across each hex.

This has been previously addressed, the solution was to use T-shirt screens to apply the dye.

Hey guys,
I was just in Target today and picked up a Sam ring because there were no Rinzler or Kevin rings on the floor. When you scan them at Target on those price check machines, the little screen will tell you if they have more in stock in the backroom. Luckily, the Target I was at had more in the back and I asked a girl to help me out and check if they had the white or red colored ones in the back. She was great and found me a Kevin and 2 Rinzler rings!! I was super happy, plus they were on sale for $13.99 so that was even better!!

I chatted to another guy at another Target store and was told that they are shipped boxes with misc. colors of the ID rings, so they have no idea what colors or how many there are of each in the box. The girl that found my rings also confirmed this for me.

A little extra info on the Tron ID rings if you are looking for them in Target stores- all the rings are sold under the same SKU #, so even when you look up online to see if they are available in store close to you and it says they are, you won't actually know if they have Kevin or Rinzler ID rings unless you call them up or go in to check.

Hope this helps you out with your search and good luck!

I am trying diffuse red EL wire for my Tron battlegrid program costume, striking a lot of problems, I tried Eddie's method but it didn't really do much at all, any suggestions, if I can't I'll have to modify and make it a more wired look than a panel look :( tomorrow I am going to try an put the wire against a red background instead of white and see what happens but please feel free to advise.

did you try tin foil under the EL wire before placing the other things on top?
FYI felt material diffuses the light as well

TESTIFY that, nemesis! I personally CAN NOT(nor HAVE THAT MUCH PATIENCE) to even make attempt....bound to be ONE(or too many) of them that won't be 'equally spaced out' like the millions of others plus I think it would still end up quite 'messy'(?). I say a PERFECT example of 'hexagon spaces' was posted here:

Showing a size comparison from a $10 bill to what they look like in actual sizes(maybe about 1/16" space between each hexagon).....nope, I can see my 'USER mind' go on meltdown on that real quick. :eek

you can easily recreate an evenly spaced pattern on the computer!!!!!!!!!!

just create a few hexagons, in something like photoshop or paint shop pro, count the pixels to make sure it's all even, then copy/paste the tessellations
if you dont have expensive programs like photoshop and psp you can also make hexagons in MS WORD and then copy them over to the basic paint program that is available on most computers.

I work at target and had no idea that it tells you if there are any in the back. maybe my store has outdated price scanners...

OMG the Company Store USED to have sheets called HEXAGON.. it is EXACTLY the TRON print! Except MUCH larger

too bad they no longer sell them :(
I am also unsure if they had them in black/grey

maybe the picture can be used as a template, then grey scaled, and used as a print to be ordered ?

It displays "IN STOCKROOM: YES" near the bottom of the screen. I never noticed it before until today when I was at one store and it said "NO" and went to another and it said "YES" :)

What are you affixing the Light Tape too? I haven't gotten my hands on the product yet, but it seems difficult to affix it to a flexible clothing/material. I was planning to build the light patterns separate, perhaps on a dense foam and attaching them to a base garment. I can afford a little bulk with the sentry's look.

Oh hello, btw.:)

my curent design plan is to layer wonderflex and place the light tape in channels on that. the idea is that i can have use the outer layer to shape tapering lines and not make it too thick while still being strong. as for the pieces of wonderflex and light tape needing to bend, I'm making a high number of smaller panels connected to each other with elastic straps and spandex.

same could be done with EVA foam but I'm trying for a thinner material.

yeah I totally want to make Will.I.Am's half time show suit...complete with electronic..."helmet hair"

LMFAO, big black eyed peas fan, loved it! And thought the same thing when I saw will.I.am. They used led's super bright! Did anyone also noticed in the commercial afterwards there was a cgi tron will.I.am chibi?

just ordered high brite EL wire in white + sound activated inverter... will keep you all posted on quality of wire, etc.

Adding on to that, at the end of the commercial when they say "chatter" it sounds like the turrets from Portal. But lets try to stay on topic here :)
I'm trying to find a passable leather jacket to make Flynn's grid jacket with the one strip on the right of is jacket. My question is, is the strip on both sides, or just the inside/outside?
