I saw the movie on Thursday and I walked out of the theater thinking it was alright. After a few days of thinking about it, I actually want to see it again. It's a fantastic movie. Definitely the best of the three.

With this movie, lens flares made sense.
The 3rd act in Chicago lost me....me suspension of disbelief was gone, so my continuity filter kicked in. The scene in the sky scraper..they do an interior, then an establishing shot showing that half the building is at a negative 45 degrees, then back to the interior, with the actors still standing up straight. I'll chalk it up to poor editing.
Also, after reading the articles about Bay, all I could think while watching the new girl was his on set directions to her..."Make sure your lips form an "O" at all times and breathe from the diaphram, to help expand your chest"....

But, it is a popcorn film, so on that criteria, I enjoyed myself.

Looks the same to me. All of the debris in both crashes are the same.
Only the robots were adding into the shots.

Yeah? It's footage he shot himself used in another movie he shot himself. I honestly don't see the rip on this one.

Half the idea for my graphic novel Planet of the Capes came from a Star Trek: Voyager thing I half-assed pitched as a fan. People salvage good work all the time.

I dunno about the ins-and-outs, but The Island was DreamWorks and Trans3 was Paramount/Dreamworks, so it was probably a cost-cutting measure rather than payday.

So, I could rehash all the things everyone else said, but I want to touch on two issues I haven't seen mentioned.

First, have you noticed a lot of the scenes seem to be shot at late afternoon? It appears to be late afternoon ALL DAY LONG? The light is often very low and coming in exactly the way is does just before dusk.

Second, does Michael Bay own stock in a company that produces gold reflectors? I stopped counting after seeing 6 different scenes in which a gold reflector is used to shine a warm light up onto the characters from below. The worst part is the person holding the reflector moves and so the reflected light moves making it very obvious. Worse than there, there are a number of scenes where you see this in which there is no logical source for such a light!

WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?!?

Again, while Starship Troopers 2 is my all-time worst movie ever, I can at least given them a pass on the fact that they had no budget at all. What is the excuse here?

I enjoy movies and the Transformer movies are terrific.

I am sorry you folks can't lighten up about Giant robot fighting movies.

I'm sorry folks like you have poor taste in movies and keep throwing money at people like Michael Bay. It just encourages more bad movies and less creativity. It's such a shame more people get sucked in and can't say no.

An extended "magic hour"? Maybe it helps to blend the CGI?
