Torso version 1.33

Thank you as well for taking the pictures and explaining the process. Just one question, did you put another layer of Ultra Cal on top of the last layer of burlap?

Yea normaly i put a beauty coat of ultracal on with my rubber kidney tool, and i did put a little on there but after about 14 hours of work i was ready to collapse so i just did some light clean up.

Here is the other side. I peeled away all the clay, cleaned up any dings or dents in the sculpture and coated it with crystal clear. I had a few little burrs that had to be rasped down on the other side to make sure there were no undercuts.

Next i added pry points to give me a spot to shove a screw driver into to pop the mould back open. I put black lines on the mould so i would know where the pry points were once they were under the ultracal. I also added vasaline to be a separator for the ultracal so the two sides wouldent stick together.

And the finished second side.

It was about 150-200 lbs of ultracal dry, with the water i would estimate it weighs around 300 lbs. I am going to let it set overnight and put it in the sun tommarow to get the clay realy hot underneath so it will come apart alot easier. Hope this helped anyone who wants to know more about mould making. thanks for looking!

That's pretty sweet, can't wait to see the first pull. I'm going to be getting one of those badboys

Greatly appreciate the answer and your documentation. I imagine that something of this weight would require more then one person to lift.

Just couldn't imagine casting something this large if it's slush cast.

Plus, once I have Arnold sized biceps, I think I'll be fine...

The two halfs will have to be seperated, then im gonna paint the latex into the mould halfs. Carfuly put the halfs together then paint up the seam lines. I am going to try to demould it today, im just waiting for the sun to melt the clay right now.

Again, thank you for explaining the process....extremely helpful and some great info. Can't wait to see your first pull, good luck!!!

Thanks everyone! I pulled the moulds apart today and they came out nearly perfect. A few tiny airbubbles, already patched. I have a tiny bit of clay still stuck in there and a little clear coat but i should be able to clean it up in no time. thanks for looking.
