Tomb raider (vg) (2013)

In the middle of my second play through. I decided this time to take it easy on the bow and try using some of the more standard fair weapons. I saved up my scrap and completely upgraded the assault rifle as far as it could go during the part where you get the grenade launcher. Couple that with rifle mastery, I was having a blast running up to bad guys, shooting them in the leg and having Lara unload a whole clip from their stomach all the way to their head. Not even Rambo was this brutal!

Since the DLC for the game is amazingly cheap (thank you crystal dynamics) i upgraded with the pistol silencer and the headshot reticule. i got my guide ready for the first chance to go back to the older areas and go back thru.

Not sure why you would want to pay for DLC like that. If you just picked up enough salvage and found the gun parts in the game, you'd be able to upgrade the pistol with no problem (actually,
didn't Roth give Lara an upgraded pistol or something?
). I had the silencer and headshot reticule probably a little bit more than halfway through the game.

I suppose it could be helpful for a second playthrough on Hard?

Well i had a few points left over from my mass effect spending spree and since the Dead space 3 dlc isn't worth what they want i figured i'd get the stuff. Actually i barely use the pistol. Though i am in love with the shotgun.

That sucks. I was looking forward to them using some of those currently inaccessible areas to add some new content. Lots of room on that island to load up more game play. Maybe they're focusing on the next release?

After my horrible autosave incident I posted about a few days ago, I'm playing through again on with the difficulty set to 'hard'. Doesn't seem any more difficult at that setting.
Weird.
Anyway, back up to 90% completion, and getting ready to head up river, to bring the pain to Matthias.

I'm getting sick of all this multiplayer BS. They're driving away customers like mad and don't even care. i got past that river part on the 3rd try last night and i'm not even sure how lol. She must weigh a lot for the cockpit glass of that Betty bomber to have given out like that.

I'm getting pretty close to the end, I was hoping that at some point, Lara would "unlock" her classic dual pistols, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Bummer!

This game actually made me wince last night when that impalement wound from the start of the game reopened and she had to deal with it in the wrecked chopper. Anyone find it odd that the chopper she finds looks like hell yet the guy in the pilot seat looks like he just died hours ago? Oh anyone else get the "Predator" achievement using the fire arrows? Made me laugh, i just wish they'd done a better job on the outfit they made as a tribute to the movie.

That was probably the only disappointment in my whole experience. Sure, dual wielding pistols is complete nonsense, but I feel with all the stuff that goes on in this game, it's ok to go a little in that direction. All I was asking for was just one moment, cutscene or in-game event that showed her wielding two pistols, and I got absolutely nothing.

A common time saving measure. You make one character model, give it a simple moving mouth and that's it. The helmet helps to save animators from animating a whole entire face and the generic suit hides all other distinguishing features that would otherwise tell one pilot apart from the other. This to me was the first sign that Lara's attempt to save the two pilots was doomed to fail because no pilot ever took their helmet off.

Even the voice actors for the mad cult men reuse the same actors. Illidan from Warcraft plays a number of them.

Sometimes toy companies will resort to this sort of practice when they can't secure an actor's likeness. Can you tell me who this character is supposed to be?

lol isn't that the horrible Salvation John Connor? You see it a lot voice acting wise if you have waves of enemies and in a way it makes sense to just have generic voices. I know a lot of the waves of bad guys in Mass Effect are the same phrases by the same guy at random.

Finish the game.

My expectations for the future of the franchise: the next game will be about the transition from survivor to explorer. It will have a similar growth model, using the small tomb puzzles from this game until, at the end, she's at the level she was in the original games. It's the most logical route to take.
As for dual wielding pistols: my uncle, a total gun nut, let me play the original Tomb Raider back in the third grade because, as he said, "it's the only game that actually shows the proper way to fire two pistols at once".

I've gone back to some of my old original PS1 games when they occasionally release the old games under PS3 and you're right they just don't play as good as my memory
