Tomb raider (vg) (2013)

I just watched those deaths...freaky stuff watching her get impaled!

If this is just a taste of things to come hopefully she will fully learn her skill set in the next one.

I guess I can understand how they have made her more fragile and believable. I just miss the inifinte ammo...:lol

Where'd you find the games in tins? I'm debating if i want to spend 30.00 on the art book or not. I like the art but i don't want a book of old buildings, i want art of the wrecks. Actually if you changed the storyline this game looks like it would be an amazing Post apocalyptic game with the setting. I'm in love with the bow and ww2 machine gun. The pistol can go take a hike. I am disappointed she isn't using the climbing axe as weapon or at least i haven't found out how yet. There's some real holy crap moments when you're running away from crap falling at you and I had to laugh as it felt like those scenes in Dead Space 3 a few times lol. As for her being frail: she's only 21 in here so she's just barely done growing; i think original lara was in her late 20s in the games.

The steelbooks are Target exclusives. They may still have them, but I heard that each store only got 7-10 copies each. I got mine on release day at 10:30 at night, and my store had 4 360 copies and 8 or so PS3 copies.

The collector's editions in the big tins can be found all over the place (gamestop, best buy, amazon). They should still be available online.

I never saw a steelbook for a game since halo 3 (i think it was h3 or h2). I know my copy of The Last Of Us is going to be a steelbook with the full artbook. Yeah i got mine copy off amazon and a 5.00 credit to a purchase. I bought the aviatrix costume from live as i like it better than her normal outfit and way better than the "hunter" outfit that i got free. I wish the gun DLC weren't for MP only.

Wes, I'm surprised you haven't unlocked the Icepick Combat mode.
It works great for a while but when you get to the palace the shotgun to the face works best since some of the guys are armored and the pick won't hurt them.

Sadly they keep changing her background history.
In the original game her parents where alive but had disowned her since after her surviving a plane crash on a ski trip the taste of adventure was more appealing than living the pampered life of an aristocrat.

The mansion she owns was payed for by the articles and photos she published.

Later on after the movie it was changed to both parents being dead.

The only thing about the game that bugs me is you can't run and shoot or if you can I haven't figures out how.

I work at Target and am in charge of the electronics lock up and my store only received the basic game.
Then again my store got the Collector set of Uncharted 3 a month after the game came out.:facepalm

The collector's edition of Gears of War 2, Mass Effect 2 and 3, Forza 4, and Halo 4 came with steelbooks. I've seen some preorders offer steelbooks (Ni No Kuni and Dead Island Riptide are the most recent examples I can think of).

I'm kinda sad that the gun DLC is for MP as well, since I don't really do multiplayer for most games. Was the hunter outfit from Amazon in the actual game case? I didn't take the shrink wrap off the game in the collector's edition (I opened one of the steelbooks up instead) and Amazon didn't send an email with the code, so I can only assume it's packed in the game.

I got something like 3 or 4 assorted codes from Amazon for different things but my PS3 isn't attached to the internet.
The DX Strategy book (the one with the necklace) has codes as well.

All the other TR games have auto lock, you can even do it in Uncharted while running.
Being able to shoot a pistol while hanging would be nice to.

I forgot about the ME3 collection. The hunter outfit and the MP map were included in my game's case. I should be working towards getting into ME3 but Tomb Raider distracted me lol. I hope there is some DLC that aren't MP crap though.

Glad to hear this is getting such great reviews, been a fan since the original, was really hoping this one wouldn't suck. (especially after so many underwhelming flops) Looking forward to picking this up myself.

I think the franchise really did need something new, especially in this day and age of epic adventure 3rd person games between the Crysis style games and Uncharted. Plus i think this gave some new blood a chance to work on it.

My wife bought me the Collectors Edition as an anniversary present!
WooHoo! Been following this thread, hoping to hear that it was good.

Can't wait to start playing. Hope she doesn't make me wait until the 15th(our actual anniversary). Would be cruel of her to tell me about it, only to make me wait.

Or you find out she's been playing it while you're at work and tells you how amazing it is but won't let you near it til the 15th.:lol

Such a sad reason to end a marriage, lol.

Well, she told me I can play it now, so all is good. I know what I'm doing this weekend. :)

Something I noticed on the front image of the Collectors Edition packaging.... Lara Croft looks a hell of a lot like Jennifer Carpenter, from Dexter.

Played this for a couple hours, not that far in.

The PC version has its own controversy, in that its performance is currently pretty biased toward AMD chips and video cards, and it doesn't run nearly as well on Intel/Nvidia setups. Guess which one I've got?

They did release a patch today that fixes some of the issues, and I'm able to run it at more or less maximum settings, 1080p 60fps. If nothing else, the game is damned pretty, I'll give it that.

I tried playing the game in 3D, but the art style doesn't lend itself particularly well. It has to do with the lighting, that they've gone for the high-contrast "Hollywood" look to the game, which results in higher levels of ghosting. There's also issues with things like the aiming reticle, that's rendered in 2D, makes actually hitting anything damn near impossible. The aforementioned performance issues also force me to turn down some of the settings to get it playable in 3D. Kind of sad, because the environment and level design would be excellent for showing off the depth.
