Tomb raider (vg) (2013)

I'm trying to get 100% completion... My god, the mine sweeper task. It's pissing me off so much.

Some mines stretch out far beyond the beach and are hidden in the waves. Watch the tides and they'll appear briefly.

Also note that there is one accessible area that is not listed in the "Fast Travel" section so if you're stuck at 99% even though you've gotten 100% clear on all the camp areas, there is still that one area you probably overlooked.

Knife? Did I have a knife? I don't recall being able to select a knife.

It was an arrow.

Ok, a bit pissed at the game now.
I'm about 85% complete with the game, and decided to fast travel to previous locations to tidy up my stats, and get 100% completion on relics, GPS, etc.

Well, on the cliff side bunker level, I was missing one Previous Inhabitants challenge flag. I climbed up on the roof to look for it, when all of a sudden, the game glitches, the ground( and all surroundings) disappear, and I plummet to my death....

For some reason, the autosave feature kicks in in that precise moment....
My game is saved with Lara falling to her death!!!

All those hours of gameplay, and I have to start from the beginning.

I think this game plays awesomely but it's just not Tomb Raider. I miss Lara stumbling into a massively enormous cavern and have the cut scene where the camera pulls back and you can see the pyramid/underwater ship etc. not missing the blocky pixels though. Change is good sometimes

The sequel will most likey have Lara delving into the traditional tombs
as hinted during the ending cinematic.
I agree that it doesn't feel like a traditional Tomb Raider game, but you can't deny that the journey and development of her character was definitely a breath of fresh air for the stagnating franchise.

I just got 100% completion and I'm only missing a few Trophies (the annoying ones like shooting ppl off the zip lines), and I feel like playing it again on the 360 with the fancypants Tomb Raider controller. But I don't want to overdo the TR experience so quickly. I'll probably play it again after BioShock Infinite.

I think the sequels will for sure be more traditional Tombraider but they wanted to show how she grows with the very first adventure onward which is a nice take on the games. Bioshock Infinite looks great. I still haven't played the 2nd of the original games.
The interesting thing about this Tombraider is they used the area around Japan that you rarely hear about that's supposed to be much like the Bermuda Triangle.

Don't get me wrong I really like this game I just miss those early games. There hadn't been much like Tomb Raider one when it came out. The local video shop guy called me to come and look at his new PLaystation lol. So I bought one. Got Lara's game and the next thing I was running into a tomb shooting bats and dodging traps. The later games just seemed to lose the wonder and grandeur I felt although still fun. Maybe I need to crawl back to my ps1 lol

Tomb Raider really did set the stage for adventure games since they didn't make any Indiana Jones games.

I do kind of feel the same way - I remember LOVING the original game... BUT I haven't touched it since I beat it the second time after it came out and I have a feeling that a lot of the love is through nostalgia goggles. I remember the controls being clunky back then, so they must be atrocious now. The wonder was most likely because there was nothing else like it back then. I'd be afraid of trying to play it again and say to myself "how did I ever like this game?"

Does the remake - Tomb Raider Anniversary - have the same archaic controls, or were they updated to it plays more like a modern game?

i'm really tempted ordering this one ... it seems to be a really good video game and moreover i have always loved this kind of game ....

after beating it, I downloaded Tomb Raider Anniversary for $10 on xbox on demand. I didn't even know it existed. I'm loving it. For those who may have missed it like I did, it's the Original Tomb Raider, but with updated graphics. It uses the Legend Engine. All the levels are there and the puzzles are all more or less the same. There are many updates and changes so that it's not an exact repeat of the original, but still close enough that it stays true. Very fun.

I did pretty good today on the game but i'm waiting for a chance to go back to other areas. I had to take a break as i was fed up with the section where you're sliding down the river dodging debris only to get impaled constantly. I think the Japanese lost as many planes and troops to this island in WW2 than the US did. Is it sad that i try and identify plane wrecks as i go past? lol

I think it took me about a dozen or more try's to get through that part.
I felt the pain every time it happened.
