After reading the article posted a few posts back, I'm pretty sure it's not Maori or a phoenix now. I'm thinking it's an oriental magatama relic that Lara picks up somewhere along the game. Ah well, I think my koru will do for the costume.

I HAVE BOOTS!! (Not the tan ones I linked. The price was just going to be too far out of my budget, especially after shipping). However, I found another pair of Timberland boots that don't look too disimilar. A friend of mine in Oxford is graciously receiving them and shipping them to me. I actually like that they're taller (my proportions = Na'vi long torso and average-short legs. So calf-high boots would be more flattering than the actual mid-shin boots she wears). Here's the beauty (and they're pre-distressed too. )

As for the pants, I think the green one would work (though I'm confused as the first picture shows a green one, but when you click on "Dark Green" it just shows another picture of the brown ones). Hm...what to do....

It's not a second tanktop under the gray. It's a white sportsbra. My gf has one similar when she goes to the gym...

I mean it's really clear (to me anyways) when you look at all the ref. pics posted here. It's not a regular bra when you look at her back, it's got too wide straps, but it's not another top either seeing as it ends under her chest.

Yeah I couldn't find a sports bra that looked like hers, I had to make do with an ordinary one. with pads in ofcourse!
I had to wear a top underneath my top the last time i cosplayed her, cause it was FREEZING that day :/ bloody british weather!

What do you guys reckon her top colour is?
in the render and the trailer, her top is unmistakably light blue, right? but in the game screenshots it's like a dark grey blue? it's odddd. maybe cause it's wet I dunno. :S I thought settling for washing a light blue over grey marl would do the trick, so when it gets wet it goes dark. ;D

Oh I hear ya Athora, the colours are driving me nuts on this costume. I understand the lighting changes, but oi!

As far as the bra/top debate goes, I was going to do an athletic white tank top with the bra built it (so both! Ta-dah!), but sadly, I haven't been able to find any around here.

Still need to get a tank top and pants...

it's like with the classic outfits (or any game character outfit really!) just couldn't work out exactly what colour her top is, cause it changed during the game, in the render art and the models had a different colour top too. :S

This cup is really close.
Side by side the handle is a little off and Lara's looks to gave a gunmetal grey paint on it.

I've found lot's of places on line that print images on this particular style mug.
I am currently working on the artwork for it but am having trouble finding the correct statue image.

Remember that game art is CG which has lots of advantages. Games are getting more and more Polygon heavy now so the blocky Eidos look is definitely a thing of the past. That coffee cup is based on the one you posted but like Me (CG Artist) I like to mix things up and customise unless it's for a client then it has to be spot on.

Athora has a great grasp on what to do early on and even from a few references Her work blows me away. The game isn't even here yet and I can feel the atmosphere and the hype is going to do it justice.

Ladynerd Your costume is looking great. All You Lara's keep up the good work. I can tell you from first hand experience why Lara's boots don't have a zip because they are a ***** to render and sometimes stretch with the texture. Example below :cool

Being a CG game it's pretty much a given that things are modified but items in the trailer have been copied off real world items.

Don't know about Eidos but the folks an Naughty Dog use actual real world locations and items in their Uncharted games.
I'm working on the U-2 Journal and all the exact stamps and passport pages I have found on line, Real world locations and events are also listed in the journal, same with a lot of the accessories, etc.

Y'know, the more I see it, the more my tank top is going to annoy me. For you sewers out there, would it be possible to move the straps to the side more like Lara's?

Hm....after seeing more closeups of the "white tank", the more I'm wondering if it's a sports bra. If I were Lara, that's what I'd wear!

Get a mans small A-shirt. for the top. My youngest daughter is on the track team at school and her sports bra looks very similar other than her's is black. But the A-shirt should get you the straps the width you want.

I know Eidos researched into the stories especially TR Last Revelation I learnt a lot about SET in that and the legend that surrounds the whole story. I see the label in the teaser is covering the mug So Sisters of Art could be any of the following

Sisters of Arthur
Sisters of Artisan
Sisters of Arthea

I will do some research into it and maybe even create a paper prop that can be applied to a similar mug as a transfer.

Oh my goodness, I didn't even see this thread had updated until yesterday! Oops...

Well as it stands right now, I don't really have a costume. The boots I bought (pictured a few posts above) turned out to be a size and a half too small. I've been hunting since then for a pair of boots that fit to no avail.

I purchased the Timberland pants, had them shipped over from England, only to find out that they were two sizes too big and way too dark.

Still no luck on finding the right colour tank top either. I'm telling you guys, this costume of mine is SNAKEBIT!:angry

Predpaul - Good point about the CG. It was very helpful though to find that some of Lara's clothing were based on Timberland products. So at least they have some grounding in reality. (Now if only I lived in the UK! They don't sell anything like what Lara wears in the US, well....at least not in my size. Oi!)

So now that school is over for the summer, I'm finally looking at doing this for SDCC. woo!

I think I'm going to go with a pair of WWII-style paratrooper boots. One problem I have is big feet... even if I were to find the actual Timberlands, they don't come in my size Too bad they don't have a guy's version...

One new big unknown is... what kind of gun is it? While its not used at all in the trailers or anything, she does have a holster for one, and if I'm gonna make a holster I might as well make it for the right gun, right?

The traditional LC gun is a USP with the barrel weight, but the one picture with the gun shows not much, except no barrel weights... so it could be something entirely different. Anyone have any thoughts?

Also looking at the super hi rez shot... man that bow is intricate. Maybe I wont try to make that, lol. Though I might feel a bit silly just carrying a right-handed take-down recurve... well she doesn't have the bow all the time...

Good luck with the boots! I'm still having trouble locating a decent pair. I wish they actually offered the Dusseldorf or Charles Street boots (Timberlands) in the US, but nooo....ah well, back to scowering online!
