Tom Clancy's The Division (original character build)

So I just found this forum while doing research and first thing is your costumes are awesome guys. Second thing is has anybody considered making a realistically functional comms block? I'm actually working on assembling and programming one to work with a home made smart watch to be a pair that will give GPS cords, raw weather information collected by in bedded sensors, and possible communication with a 'sister unit' once I get the main one running. Anybody else working on something similar?

It would be awesome maybe using a talkiewalkie and a ptt ( push to talk) for the com part can be a good idea or a Bluetooth device
i must work on it now cause you gave me lots of ideas ; )

No, I didn't. I focused on making mine look good. For me, it's just a costume... I don't see any point, personally, to make the shoulder beacon do anything (e.g. who would I talk to with it? why? when would I ever be planning to wear it, that I would need to talk to someone?). Someone has made a version of mine (on Thingiverse) that they stuck a two-way radio in, which is an interesting feat in itself, but I don't see it being very useful.

Well for me I enjoy working with electronic and radio projects, I have a ham license so I see this getting a bunch of use for me when I'm out and about maybe in the outdoors or just driving. I say communicate with the sister unit cause if this works I only plan to make two of them, but it will operate on amateur radio frequencies if I can manage and scan emergency bands. That paired with GPS capabilities and a couple other small added features. Right now I'm just testing some components and going through the design phase.
Edit: Sorry for any typos, I'm on mobile during breaks from work.

Found this while looking for details on the Collectors edition watch to use for my costume. I didn't think too many people would make The Division Agent costumes but here I was wrong. The outfits you guys have are amazing. Putting my together slowly to use for the Comic Con in Columbus in like 6 months. So excited. You guys saved me alot of time with the great schismatics of the comm device and the ones you guys made are pretty sweet and authentic. I'm not going to go all out and make it functioning but I will add some LED's to have it light up with the watch. I'll be adding my own pictures when it all starts to come together. I did pick this up as its a nice small touch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121896736572?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Looking forward to seeing what you guys bring, Snakedoctor15 and GeneralIMDBK! Welcome to the SHD!

I remember when I first started on my cosplay, and there were only something like 3 or 4 of us in the world that were really doing the cosplay for the game. Now, we probably have enough to actually put up a fight in NY ;) Very glad to be one of the founding members of this cosplay community for the game. All of you guys (and hopefully soon a gal or three) make it awesome and all worthwhile!

Keelan562 you inspired me!!! The other agents have some great designs and excellent ideas!! Thank you all!

Are there any 3D models for the backpack strap light/transmitter unit available?

Do you normally make those and if so are they for sale?
Sort of. I'm working on a whole squad for Denver ComicCon (June), so I need to make a few more. I just finished a new version of the beacon, which I 3D printed on a commercial printer for maximum resolution. I'm going to be making molds of it, so that I can churn out a few quickly. No guarantees on timeframe though. You might want to continue this discussion over in my post, so as not to hijack this one.

How much did it cost you to use the commercial 3-D printer?

Hey guys, I've been following this page for quite a while and have put together my own "The Division" cosplay as well. I will post up pictures and hopefully you guys can give me a few tips about my concept. Currently working on the Comm brick and the Loot bag. Also have been waiting for Matt to post his next cosplay tutorial video!! Cant wait!

Where did you get the graphic for the watch, im working on making my watch but i cant find a decent picture to use. Also, what are you guys using to make your DZ Bags. I have yellow plastic i was going to use with stencils, because i cant find a bag or cloth that color at the moment. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome, ZombieJoe! Looking forward to seeing what you've got for your first loadout. :)

For the graphic for the watch, I made it in Photoshop. Others have just painted an orange ring on a watch that has the appropriate "look" to it, so that's always an option too. If you want a pic of the watch graphic I have, let me know and I'll get email it to you.

As for the loot bags, a lot have been made of different materials. Some have been made from old raincoats, some from fabric. The ones my buddy has been making for our webseries are made out of a waterproof material that's got some thickness to it so that it could actually take a beating. I'll have to ask him exactly what type of fabric it is. As for the details, one of my best friends (and his cousin) has the equipment at his house to do printing for t-shirts and such, so he's doing that for us.

I would say, just go with whatever is easily in your means and can accomplish the look you want. You can't go wrong if you're happy with the end results.
