TMP IRON MAN - New Photos Feb 2011. Page 72.

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. NEW 2009 HELMET PHOTOS Page 77.

Whoa, I really like that inside pic at the store...makes your mask look really mean. I see your shoulder bells are different than mine. Did you cut on em, or is that how they came?
That one outside with Batman...did your stomach plate come undone? It looks like it's poking out or sumthin LOL. That plate was the biggest challenge for me I think....err, maybe the butt plate.

yeah i really like the inside pic of the store. it is probably one of my favorites .
that is how my shoulder bells came. no i am still working on a good mounting way for my abdomen pieces. it is kind of tricky. the butt piece is a little strange but if it is set correctly it really makes the suit that much better.. i am working on a tutorial i can post on here. were did you get the lights for the eyes. i bought something similar and the LED's were mounted on a board..

Fantastic photos you guys have taken. Its nice to se the improvements. How did the legs work with my advice Collin?

I advice both of you to consider boots with higer sole but more importantly heal raisers. It will give you longer legs.

For information , we made brand new legs, and a new helmet again...
I dont think one armor is identical. All got some changes.

But these brand new parts are nice.

:thumbsup
Ohhh yeah, forgot to mention my paint I bought. The yellow is a really good match...almost identical for me. Brushing it on makes it look darker, but that seems to be due to the metal flake in it. My problem with the paint is that it is too shiney. My suit doesn't have a gloss to it at all really..maybe a little, but you know what I mean.
If I spray this paint...I'm gonna have to experiment. I would probably have to thin it more than usual and spray it dry (meaning I'll add more air, creating more overspray).

BUT.
What "I" need to learn, see, do, whatever...is how to do that battle damage. I've been told just a brush and silver paint...quick swipes and walla. But yeah, I just don't get it. is the brush beat all to hell, cut up, or what? The strokes on my suit...I just cannot imagine what the process looked like when he did it. is it a 4" brush, a 2" brush, a modeler's tiny brush? Is it a particular kind of brush? Is it a brush at all? Was it crumpled newspaper drug thru paint? I dunno....someone please share the technique with me.

Mate, the paint process for the silver weathering is quite simple once you've done it and know how.. in the case of this suit as the area's are quite big, use a 2" brush and use an alluminuim paint 'silver' with a metal cote finish to it.. we use an Humbrol brand over here, it's a model paint. You can buy any simular paints from hardware stores.

Dip only the tip of the brush (about 1 inch) in the paint and drag this across sheets of newspaper several times until there is hardly any paint left on the brissles, then start to drag the paint in the direction of the scorch mark you want actualy on the armour. repeat if need be but basically build it up in several layers until you get the desired effect. Less is more in the case with the paint on the brush, nice clean brush, no need to batter or damage it.

Hope this helps mate. LMK if you need any help. :thumbsup

Also I find applying the strokes 'quickly' helps to get the disered effect and lift the brush away towards the end of the stroke...

Quick random stokes in the direction needed and build these up until you get the desired effect..

Holy S... Thanks for the photos.... Looking intresting. Wondering about the legs how they look and the rest. This is a great example how they make movies now. Now making it all into a full suit is the challange without CGI ;)

I really want to make that one to... Arghhh.

BTW here is the new and final helmet. Let me know your toughts.

The Circle is seperate from the leg, and the lower shin is longer .... Well all is new..

So taken in consideration all the work we done to this because we started prior to the movie, i am not so sure if we want to do another Ironman 2 suit prior this time..... But still the fingers are tickling..

wow i am really liking the new legs. and a great job on the helmet as well..

the shins i have seem to flimsy to me. But the weight is definately what i was like. are the new ones made with fiberglass???

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. NEW MAY PHOTOS NEW HELMET & LEGS PAGE 92.

The fiberglass shins whould not be suitible for a suit towards the glassfiber legs, they will clank, restrict your movements as well as it will most likly get damaged. If we can these will also be made in ABS so they flex and give in.

thanks for the quick reply. that does make sense. they would clank together every step you would take.
