Iron Man COSTUME : New pictures page 8

Re: Iron man with a twist ( not TMP quality) New pics page 6

TMP, seeing comments like that from you, is like being a high school football player and having some top Player come and say to you " dam your doing good ! "

So thanks my friend.

It is coming togther, some more changes on parts, mostly on the abb section. The back is coming a little slower as making stand out more, but will look good. Maybe not as much as yours but it will look good.

Again the hands are coming along F--king amazing ! they realy work well with the suit, should have them ready and painted up by the next weekend. They feel good as they are hard, so when you putthem on it almostfeels likethey would be strong enough to punch through a wall. Not...that, that would be a good idea or anything :confused:lol

It will not have the movie armor look but has taken on a life of its own, and will be recognizable ( I hope ) to the layman on the street when they see it. God I dont know what I will do if I hear

" Look over there ....its a transformer ! " " No ! Thats not a transformer its Darth Vader ! "

" Wow Robo Cop !!! "

" Look a Clone warrior from Star Wars ! "
:rolleyes:unsure:angry :confused:confused:cry:angry

:lol

Re: Iron man ( not TMP quality) New Hand Pictures page 6-7

Hey gang.

Well taking a lesson from TMP I am not going to reveal the whole suit in its entirety untill the last parts are completed and after the first trial run. This should be around May 20th give or take a day or 2.

However the hands / gauntlets have come along so well, that I wanted to post up a good series of pictures as to how they look. I am very proud of how they turned out and they fit 100% in with the rest of the armor. By the way, someone on an other forum asked as to how much movement I have in the hand. It is around 75% some loss of hand closing all the way, but can still close into a fist shape, overall good dexterity for holding things so not bad, and some movement loss was expected regardless.

Here are the pictures with some captions. Note this will likly be the last batch of pictures I post up till the suit is complete. Just finishing some small details on the butt plate, lower back and front abdominal armor. This was orriginaly only going to be done in ruber but went back and re-did this in sintra plastic. Again everything is coming along extreemly well and am very happy with the look.

Hope you like these pictures, I apologise for the one shot on my arm that is blurry, was the last picture taken just as my battery ran down. I will get a more clear shot on this later and edit out the one that is out of focus.

The Armor is at 96% complete, almost getting sad, but also relieved, now that it is almost done.

Thanks again for the comments, it is very much apprecaited.
:)

Full hand and forearm ( sorry for the blurry shot will replace this one )

About dam time I got ahead of you on something !! :lol:lol

I just did not like how the first hand made up in rubber felt when shaking someones hand, to me it destroyed the allusion of it being a kick ass, hand smashing though walls suit. Having been a stormtrooper in the public for years now , I know people love to come up and shake hands, so thats why going this route to me was important. When I shake someones hand now, the armor feels like it could, litterally smash through something. So thus keeping up the alusion that it is indeed a super strong suit.

TMP, I have about 75% normal hand dexterity, so not bad. I knew it would be a trade off over the rubbers better mobility but I love the look so much more it was worth the loss of dexterity in my mind. I cant touch my 2 smallest fingers or my thumb to my palm, I only get about 3/4's of the way there, then the armor gets in the way. But I can make a fist, spread my fingers, hold a cup, that short of thing. But yah I still lost some mobility / dexterity, but not enough that it hinders me at all. My buddy Travis who is helping me huge now, I shook his hand with the full completed armored hand as a test . He said " man ...its weird ...it feels powerful " So that was about as cool a comment as I could have hoped for.

Gang, again had it not been for Weaslflinger making such kick ass helmets, and for TMP leading the way, proving this could be done I would not be at this stage. So have to thank these 2 guys again. They were my inspiration to get this project going and completed.

Thanks for the comments team it means a lot, especialy coming from the talent in this crowd here. :thumbsup

Re: Iron Man COSTUME : New Hand armor, pictures page 6-7

Guys, I just sent back a bunch of PM's, sorry been a bit slow on this.

I also will post up a few more pictures this week, a few better hand and arm shots unlike the one blury image. We have a lot more done, and this was a good weekend to get more things finished off. Wont post up full suit test photos as I want the first time people to see the suit it will be all complete. My body suit with overlaping scales for the arms, legs and groin was completed this weekend as well, something I was waiting on before doing my full tests shots. This makes a huge difference when showing off the armor, it then looks more like it should. Same wit hthe neck seal, did some adjustments so I can better tighten it around my neck and get some additional movement.

However, regretably, we have run into some snags with the new back armor . :rolleyes Travis painted up all the complete parts, including the forearm for the rocket housing. It is to hard to cut through the fiberglass now so rather than try to make that work, we are going to cast up an other forearm, but in pieces, making it easier to house the rocket assemblie. I also contacted a gent with my local 501st group, who knows how to make the rocket pod close electronically, my current system would only open electronically, but had to be closed manually to reset it. This way now it will be able to open and close by one button, so want to go with this system.

But casting a new forearm, completing the sculpt, and casting of the new upper back, is taking time, my estimate now is this will not be done till Mid June. So regretably we are off my target date of May 20th to unveil it all. had I not decided on changes I would have made the movie premier, but I wanted to do these changes and he suit has bennefited tremendously for it. When I show this thing off for the first time, I am confident it will be well recieved.

Anyway gang, thanks for the PM's and comments, more pictures s by late wednesday.......they will be...very good :love

Well Ted, despite being old enough to be Obadiah Stain's grandfather, I think you'll pull off a wicked Iron Man when this thing is done. I can't wait to see it in person.

Re: Iron Man COSTUME : New Hand armor, pictures page 6-7

wow that's fantastic i can just imagine all the work that goes into something like that

Re: Iron Man COSTUME : New Hand armor, pictures page 6-7

Thanks much. Starting to come toghter nice now. My problem is now, since a few other gents have completed IM suits, I get more ideas in my head and want to run with it to see if it is possible or not. We did some new work yesterday and today, redid a few more things. Lots of cool ideas out there so hard not to take advantage of them and try to incorporate into the suit.

Here is one for the newbie builders out there. One thing I discovered the hard way. Make a neck seal, similar to the one in the movie, in ruber or fiberglass / glass fibre will not work. Yup read that right, will not work. At least not if you want your head to be able to move. I think TMP ran into the same problem. My neck seal, from the shoulders up is all ruber, looks great, and I can get a fair amount of up down movement, but side to side...no. No with out the neck seal so tight to my neck as to make things get dark in the helmet real quick ( bad joke so tight could almost not breath)

Anyway, soloution. Still using the neck seal, but in parts. I will post pictures on this in a few days. Lower part of my neck seal is stationary, up to about a 1/4 of my neck height. The rest of the neck seal that was there, is now cut away, made into 4 parts, all connected to black Lycra, the lycra is long enough, gos int othe lower neck seal, attaches to my body suit so it wont come loose. The 2 part neck seal, looks fantastic, but allows for complete lateral head movement unecombered by the helmet or the ruber. Simple trick to do, not so easy to figure out. But once we did a test on it, made all the differnce in the world. Works like a charm.

Also redoing, for the 3rd time on the abdominal section. Was okay, but just again some small movement issues I wanted to resolve. So the original idea of a partial ruber, but now with sintra overlaping sections seems to be working fantastic. Again more pictures will be up before the end of the weekend. :)

By the way for the masses:rolleyes:).....I am 43, not 403 million like I tell the kids. I am sure however I recall seeing dinosaurs........in truth, thinking back, it might be my old grade school teachers.......god the horrible nightmares ! :cry

Hey Gang. Just a bit of an update. Things moving along nicely , still on time frame for completion by Mid June. Going to be doing full suit trials by late next week using the existing back armor. Tne new armor matches up to the same fittings from the old one so should be okay when matched up. ...hopefully.

Here are some new pics, note the helmet / neckseal shots, trying a new lense for the eyes that work great. Pictures dont quite show it off very well but looks very sharp in person. Note the chrome paint on the neck seal comes up a lot duller than it should do to the camara flash. My camera is 8 years old...so time to do an upgrade one of these days :rolleyes Will have some more partial pictures of the test firt after next week. Still wont show off the whole suit till it is done with the new back done up. Have a cool way to unveil the armor once it is all ready. :thumbsup

Hope you like the new shots.
