Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Awww! Come on man! Give me a little "love" for showing you guys my "bird cage" hat pin a few months back!? Come on! Give a Hatter a little love!!! :confused

Hat pin set 2.0!

I updated the peacock pin as well. My own interpretation ;)

ARGH. conveniently I hadn't even gotten through the first tier of Um's petti and I ran over a pin in the gathering and my machine needle broke. WHYYYYYYY does this always happen to me!? -____-;

I was just about ready to ask for that pattern again. I thought I had saved it, but when I went to go back to my Hatter folder to find it, it was gone. So if anyone could post another link to it, I'd love ya to bits :)

I forget what page it's on but here it is again. I changed the colors on MY pants just a bit more so cause I was short on colors at the time and it was bout 2am when I was stitching.

I cut strands from the wig we used to make sure they would match, glued them to some mesh and curled the ends upward...I also added little pieces spiking up on the inside. I find this is the best way to make them match the particular brush and shape of his. Afterward you can always just attach them to you with spirit gum! :)

Here's a shot of how ours turned out.

you get the Spirit gum remover then
you just spread it on with a Q-tip and slowly peal it off while applying more remover

it makes it 100 times less painful

Hmm. we have spirit gum remover but Travis has never used it since he's never had any issues with peeling them off. But you could always put most of the glue right below your eyebrow...unless yours are ridiculously thick, the Hatter ones should cover anyways. XD

Regardless, you'll obviously be sticking something overtop your own. Spirit gum + remover sounds like it would be best for you. :)

I went thru 3 packs of needles, so I think that's 12 before it was done!
Soooo many pins!

The 2 longest time issues for me were finding the fabrics, and then sewing those petticoats.

Try not to rush thru it, and keep reminding yourself how lovely it will be once finished. :)

Lol i already failed...i was so anxious to get it done that i was a bit short on fabric and did it anyways...today i had to go get more and now i'll just have more layers than it should but hopefully it will fluff it out enough. I'm using tulle so it's pretty rough...im not finishing any edges or that, which i'm ok with since i'm making it a rush-job curtain dress like the concept of it was. The upper half will be tidy, of course so hopefully it balances out. I usually wing it and end up with good results so here's hoping! haha

in other news... i got the PERFECT material for my new RQ sleeves today!!! that baby will be a work in progress 'til I know it's as close as I can get it...so new sleeves coming soon. YAY!

Thanks :) Now I can get to work on my pants! I have a ton of embrodery thread from my cross-stitching days, so I'm sure I have the right colors lingering around here somewhere.

Also, I ordered the Deluxe Mad Hatter wig that has been floating around eBay and thought I'd share a photo if anyone is on the fence about ordering this wig. It's by Charades...

It needs styled more but I need to find some better holding hair spray. Hoping to pick up a bottle of that Got2B hair glue stuff while I'm out today.

I also wanted to share my dye job fluke that was beyond surprising. I found a vintage jacket at a thrift store (it was this horrid powder pink), so I attempted to dye it brown and it ended up turning the EXACT color of the Flashback Hatter jacket...

All I need to do now is add frayed ribbon to the edges (or attempt to fray what is already on it), add a few more button holes and replace buttons then I'm all set!

Quick question: Is it THIS wig: DELUXE Mad Hatter Wig NEW!!! In Stock!!! - eBay (item 380255917971 end time Aug-31-10 14:57:43 PDT)

or THAT wig: Alice in Wonderland movie Adult Mad Hatter Costume Wig - eBay (item 330458558383 end time Sep-05-10 11:58:46 PDT)

I ordered from the second link the other day to give it a try )keeping my fingers crossed.) The one you posted doesn't look bad at all. If it's from the first seller, I may go back and order that it before they dissappear. I was skeptical simply because it doesn't look long enough in the ebay photos.

Thanks for the pic!!

It was from the first link and it does look a bit short (it's the one I was wearing in the photo I posted on Facebook with it slapped on my noggin out of the box). I may order the second one as well and pick my favorite out of the two. If all else fails, I may just cut my hair short again and color it orange. At least it's wavy like the Hatter's and it worked for me for The Joker! LOL

I'll be sure to post pics of my wig when it arrives, so you'll have a little reference before you order :)
