Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

I also wanted to throw this out there as a word of caution. By recommendation from a local costume shop, I ordered a hat that I planned to mod through spirithalloween.com, however, their advertised hat is not what I received... I ordered what was on the left and got the mess on the right which I can't do anything with. I can't even salvage the frame because it's WAY too small, even for my pimple of a head...

After I called and complained, they marked the item as 'unavailable' on their website. Mad Hatter Top Hat in Accessories & Hats Basic Accessories New for 2010 Accessories They offered to refund my money if I paid to ship it back and paid a restocking fee, but it's not worth all the hassle when I could just sell it online for the full price I paid for it. Ah well. Looks like I'll have to try and make my own from the bottom up since I don't have anymore 'mad money' to spend on another hat after buying my textbooks for college :(

Can you file a complaint with the BBB for online stores? Restocking fee is complete bull. How is there a fee for restocking a hat? a car part, electronics, I understand, but a hat? no.

Otherwise, I assume you bought with a credit card online? Complain to your credit card company and tell them your story. You have protection from your CC company. They will send you some paperwork, and you will probably have to send the CC company the hat, sometimes they even let you keep it if it's an inexpensive item. Just make sure you do fill out every piece of paper they give you and send it back. I believe you are also protected if you used a paypal debit card too.

I never shop at Spirit, it's all garbage.

Spirit is not an accredited BBB business, but I did still file a complaint. I called them back asking if they would reconsider taking the hat back without a restocking fee and with them footing the bill for the shipping and they hung up on me, so I guess the answer was no. I ended up modding the hat just a bit and plan on selling it online on the cheap, just so I can at least get my money back. Ah well... live and learn I guess.

Holy crap what a holes! sorry you had to go through that. I will mention your story to anyone who considers buying from Spirit from now on.

Hopefully this shows up! Don't mind the makeup....it was a very QUICK and improved attempt (although, I don't hate the results and I know what I need to buy....including better quality white makeup.)

And this is the Disney wig. Not bad, and long enough. The color is accurate to the shots online as well. However, I wish it wasn't as frizzy on top.....a lot of "filler hair." and the cap isn't big enough to go all the way down in the back. With a little styling, it won't be too bad......

Not bad at all. This is gonna be my choice for wigs too. Great makeup, btw. What brand and technique did you use?

Thanks you guys :) Honestly, the white was one of those cheap-o Halloween cream makeups, the kind that comes in a tube. The first attempt, ugh..... I was rubbing it in and it was horrible. You can't tell from the photo, but it's REALLY heavy. I powdered it afterward to set it and fill in the light spots. The rest of the makeup was just luck of the cosmetics bag. I do love the blue eyeshadow.....so obnoxious! The lavender needs to be stronger. And the rest, well.....all blush. Go figure :)

Yeah, thanks again. That helped with the layout for me bigtime. I changed mine up slightly to make it uniquely mine but is overall what you shared with the group here. It's really what this board is all about and why I've stuck around well over a decade now.

Here are some shots of the boots that I've altered. They were originally all white wedding boots. I realize the shape of the boots don't quite match up with those of Helena's in the movie, but I don't find harm in that. I may end up redoing the black hearts but for now this is what I've got.
They were spray painted with a 24 karat gold spray paint, and the lace was added with a combination of mod podge, hot glue, and a needle and thread. The hearts are vinyl. I've yet to paint the insides of them red... but that will come.

Did you get the pin and patch I sent?

in-fact i meant to mention that

the pin is absolutely lovely, and really sturdy, what the hell did you make it from
and its so shinny and new
i decided to use it for the new coat cause since there is no weathering on it the pin should look fancy. so its all laced with ribbon and ready to go

as for the patch im gonna hang onto to that. its a pretty close match
like really close
imma try and hunt down more for commission hats (though ill still have to hand make the little ones)

I'm dripping in envy right now. Those hat pins are MARVELOUS! I'm working on my daisy pink right now, along with the whistle. They don't look bad at all, but I doubt I'll ever get my Art Nouveau pin as SUPERB as your's. I'm assumng they are all hand cast........which simply makes you a god.
