Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Soul, yes. On the display version, the bandolier varies in colour and fullness on the spools ( yeah, I'm not sure who else is THAT detail oriented [ok I am] but I noticed it ), the 'mossy' parts on the coat are a lot hairier looking, the vest seems to be a dark purple with a pinstripe checkered pattern but mainly the differences rest in the hat. The stitching is entirely different from the hat in the movie, the patch varies from hat to hat ( there've been a couple on display ) and the colours in the 'peacock pin' are more pastels ( pink, lilac and green ) and it's also missing a row of beads...I think the hat that was at SDCC was missing a hatpin or two as well...

Today is the day I GET THIS THING DONE. Hopefully. I'm currently distracted by watching the Royal Premiere on Ustream...Mia looks AMAZING. *jealous jealous jealous* And on another film related note, I've read 3 or 4 official ( either website or critic ) reviews and they've all scored it 4/5. :D
 
I KNOW THIS IS OFF TOPIC BUT I JUST WON FREE PASSES TO AN EARLY SCREENING OF ALICE AND I AM EXPLODING WITH EXCITEMENT AND NEED TO TELL THE WORLD!

I have never won anything in my LIFE! All of my 23 years!!! ( ok maybe I have but I just don't remember...oh wait, yeah, I think I won a 25lb chocolate bar in like...grade 1. )

Ha ha ha!! Yes, sorry, Travis is coming...though I fear he won't dress up...He didn't want to for the midnight screening either ... this is at 7pm so maybe he will, I think it was just more about driving an hour and a half decked out in makeup and wig. I'm going to have to see what I can do... muahaha.

I googled for free screenings...found a facebook group for Penguin ( which is a book publishing company ) and all you had to do was join the group and email them. :D Google free screenings though! I came across TONS that were going on in LA...maybe you can still sign up and get in! :)

And thus, my day of finishing the Hatter has turned into watching the premiere and blabbing about on facebook/twitter/here on winning an early screening.

AND NOW I HAVE EVEN LESS TIME TO FINISH IT! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
 
If Travis won't try his frakkin' contacts on...I'm not gonna let him go either way. :lol :p ;)
 
I did Google just what you said after I read your post and alas most all free screenings were in Austin, TX, St Louis, MO, but nothing in LA! I think the Ultimate Fan Event WAS the advanced screening!
 
Oh I know...maybe I'll bug him to bring them over tonight...unless we go see Shutter Island...he was here yesterday too but we both forgot about them...got too distracted by all of the new clips and TMZ. :lol

Well not everyone knows that there are flashbacks...lol

It's a Travis spoiler...which means everything that we may have not seen before is a spoiler. Even if it's just a picture from a different angle. XD

In progress news, kinda bummed that AGAIN I messed up the back of the coat. I REALLY wish I had all the reference I do now, when I was working on it...the seams are right, just the portions where the lacing go are a bit of the wrong shape, and I put trim around mine. =\

Done the button holes ( ghettoly since my sewing machine decided to go mad ) and the hat band though!! All that's left are the buttons on the vest! And some touchups on the coat...maybe redo the back of the vest with something stripey and add a new lapel...but no one sees any of that anyways so it's not very high on the priority list. Same with altering the hat...it's done to where it looks good but it's far from perfect...we'll see...
 
I also get to see the movie before it comes out, but for very different reasons.

Our theatre is having Wonderland opening weekend party, and the owner wants to make sure we have our characters down.

So jealous...Travis wanted to do that SO BAD but we never got around to suggesting it to the theatre or anything. :( We're just going opening day and setting up our own tea party in the VIP room across from the coffee/tea shop and whatever onlookers are crazy enough to join may do so! :D

AND SO! I think I'm 99% done the new and improved hatter! Just the buttons on the vest and a few minor touchups!!

HOORAY !!! Cause I don't have a day off until I go see it. @_@

Gotta make a new bunchier flower for my dress too since I'll be wearing that! :D

BTW Guys, vest buttons: flat and gold or brassy and domed?
