Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

well yeah that goes without saying
either way i think our enormous masses of red hair will block out a bit

can you imagine if we all hooked up and saw it together in costume
it would be a sea of red hair

It's so curious how his hair can go from hat head to so straight and fluffy so soon after removing his hat...well, I guess it may not be soon after...but still, what bouncey hair! LOL My wig doesnt fluff back out straight across unless I fluff it upside down!

Jodo, THAT WAS MEEE! Who called it a fancy prison outfit. LOL Well it still kind of is!!! Though b+w stripes is a Tim signature, I like that he's...you know...well...it's spoilery. But I like that the jail stripes can kinda apply to that particular scene. :)

Hopefully finishing the aging of the coat tonight. DID NOT think it would take this long...I'll probably be adding up until the premiere.

Padawan, I agree! I've been hearing some awful things about the movie but I just cannot fathom how any of them can be true so I'm pretty confident going in costume and Travis just doesn't care either way. He gets the most hilarious reactions when he dresses up as Johnny's characters, considering some of the regular places we go ( mall, movies, dinner, starbucks ) there are people that tell him he reminds them of him on an every day basis ( though he had a couple Orlando comparisons too...I think it's just the brown eyes lol ). On the opening day of Pirates 3 we went strolling around the mall and he actually had a little flock of girls following him around trying to take a picture. And an English family at the beach had him pose and interact with their kids. LOL

After he wore Sweeney to the movies, people were scared of him after ( because of the movie, not his insanity to go in costume ) and a couple of the theatre workers referred to him as 'The Jack Sparrow' so I'm pretty safely assuming they're probably expecting him to show up as the hatter. :lol

Anyways, I look forward to seeing everyones completed pics once they're all worn out! I really can't wait! I love seeing all of the different interpretations and ways that people put them together! Woo hoo!

I just can't get into the sprit of wearing a costume to an opening day.

I have done so once, but I just don't want to again. lol.

I hear ya. It takes a certain kinda person to do it. I did it for Pirates a buncha times and it went over extremely well. But I wore a gown and it was sweet. I don't have the guts to paint up and wig up for Red Queen, hence why I made a cute little-Alice dress. :) Still costume, but still kinda pretty and normal...ish.

Travis just doesn't care. He used to wear his Jack wig with his regular clothes everywhere we went before the movie came out. @_@

...OT, my Mom just came in my room and went off on a huge rant about me needing to watch Entertainment Tonight because they're featuring Alice all week and continued to explain to me why he has so many different coloured costumes and how it works with his moods. Thanks, Mom. Not like I haven't been following this movie for a solid year... :lol

Jodo: You can find the safety pins at any Army Navy surplus store or ArrrBay!

I figure most people in the smaller cities and towns of the mid-west as well as our neighbors to the Great White North (51st state but some people speak a strange tongue up there) would go in costume!

Here in Los Angeles you would be lucky to be 1 out of maybe 34 Mad Hatters at the movie event!! :confused

Aelynn, if people around here were more friendly, I proboly would. But most people are here would proboly be extremly rude, or even get physical. I'd hands down do it if I had a person or two to come with me. But there's no way I'm gonna go it alone, LOL.

I saw ET last night, but didn't watch it today.

UM, thanks a ton for the link, I'm gonna buy my safty pins VERY soon! :D

Oh....And also, I don't blame Travis for wearing the Jack wig at all! I want to wear mine out realy bad.

Ah I hear ya...you need some more crazy ( mad? ) friends! At this point, even if Travis decided he didn't want to dress up he wouldn't have a choice since I HAVE SLAVED over this thing for 3/4 of a year!!! He would be getting some serious strumpet-slaps!

I saw ET tonight...a little blurb with Anne but nothing worthwhile. Stephen Fry is on Craig Ferguson tonight, who was the first to air the Tweedles clip with Matt Lucas and the Um clip with Helena...hoping for some Chessur tonight! :D

LOL the Jack wig just looks ridiculous on him cause he's a skinny guy and it's SO MUCH HAIR! XD It makes his head look like a...chocolate spaghetti explosion. o_O

ACK! You guys are distracting me! ( A pleasant distraction nonetheless ) I haven't even started to continue my aging of the coat. >_< ... maybe I'll switch gears and do the hat band instead...quicker...easier...more enjoyable...less glue all over the place...

LMAO, chocolate spaghetti explosion. :lol

I'm a preety..ehh...robust dude myself, so the dreads don't make me look that much out of proportion. :lol My tiny arms don't help me, but I've got broad shoulders and a broad chest. It also gives me an excuse to "aska PEEEpo to da islan' man!" :lol

Not having a group to go to the movie with was one of the determining factors in the selling of my costume. I had to face facts, but it was still a major bummer.

This is a costume that resonates with me. I've had something of a Mad Hatter obsession since I was a little kid. I'm not exaggerating, it was an obsession. My dad can chime in here to confirm that. :lol

When I read the Woolverton script and heard that Burton was directing, I knew it was a match made in heaven. Then I saw the design ... it was meant to be. :love

Now I've at least got to fashion myself a nice leather hat one of these days.

i basically live in my costumes
i have no problem walking around in my Jack coat, or hatter hat, for even a wig, its just how i am
and it sucks cause my parents dont understand it nor do they support it
im sure they'd give the world if i would just stop dressing up

you guys are more of a family then them
i mean, your like from the same world i am so we all sort of understand each other and help each other out with whatever problems or questions we stumble across

heck i was horrified to think i might not get to go to Comic-Con this year when the tickets were selling out
the thought of not getting to show the world what i can do was possibly the most scarcest feeling ever

living with a younger brother who is clearly the kid my parents wanted to have kind of makes you need some one to notice that you have talents too
.......stupid parents

Padawan, I hear ya. My Mom gave me SO much trouble about it in the beginning. I was incredibly, incredibly fortunate to have Travis come into my life because he's exactly like me. Very creative, imaginative, fun and young at heart. The fact that he gets so excited about being Jack, and wears it well, made my parents realize that I'm not THAT ridiculous. That there are other people with the same interests and the same ability to find great fun in something as juvenile as playing dressup.

It was only in the past couple years ( I've been costuming for like...8 lol ) when I made a whole slew of pirate costumes, went to a pirate party where it was ALL adults who dress up, made KILLER Halloween costumes that won $200 and the congratulations and admiration of tons of friends and extended family members that she began to take an interest in what I was doing. I still sew with my machine on a kitchen chair beside my computer because I can't deal with her asking me why I waste my money on such stupid things if I were to do it in the living room ( she wouldn't say this now, she's actually usually quite curious what my next project is...but I can't get over the past judgement ).

Anyways, keep on doing what you're doing! You're good at it and you have fun with it and those are the most important things ! I definately agree with you as well that it's such a rare artistic outlet that it leads you to meet some truly extraordinary people. :) Don't let any judgement, no matter who it's from, prevent you from doing what you love!!

In other news...hat band is sewn! Painting on Thursday!!....maybe I'll start tonight...watching Craig Ferguson with Stephen Fry but there hasn't been ANY mention of Alice so far. :( EDIT: They did!!! A Chessur clip! YAY

yeah, once i found Panda things made better seance to me. but they got worse,
they think i plan my life around her
even try to live vicariously through her
the thought of that makes me sick.

my job doesn't give me any hours so i have all tons of free time, and i dedicate it to finding more work, working on costumes and, spending time with her

when i say they dont support me i mean it
i can tell they dont like the fact that i have a girlfriend who does things
they dont like that iv taken up Ballet because of her, and they dont even care that i have been getting back in shape cause of her.
its sickening to watch them flaunt my brother and brag about him to everone about his running and him going away for school

im glad hes going, maybe they will finally notice that out of the two im the more talented. Maybe not athletically, but artistically. but that's clearly not what they were hoping for.

anyway back to the life i like to live in
i found the perfect Pants material, its real cheep so Panda is gonna get a bunch and im gonna make me some new pants. there was even the stuff for the gloves and the fabric i wish i had found for my coat
ill get enough to make a coat and make me one then sell the one im making now if it turns out better
