A friend of mine did that at The Franklin Mint. Sadly, it was right next door to the state police barracks, so he wound up with the very few items he could hide under his seat after being spotted. He did manage one of their late 90s 1701s that had a bent nacelle strut, and a crapload of golden Scrabble tiles! :lol:

Makes you wonder how Wand sorts imperfect units? I imagine there are various ‘grades’ assigned, some flagged for minor cosmetic or packaging issues and others for electronic or software problems that are too difficult to fix during production. How many of those Tricorders get stripped for parts?

According to OpenAI: In a first production run of 10,000 electronic or toy devices made in China, about 3% or 300 units are usually rejected. This is common early on due to the complexity of putting together so many parts. As manufacturing processes are refined, the defect rate often improves in later runs.

It’s only right we take those 300 in the name of science. ;)
