The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

This show is great but the characters still seem a bit stupid at times.

====================================================

The world is full of zombies. My new woman is walking around in the forest alone. I care for her. Shes my woman. So yeah, it'll be a great way to get her motor running and have some sex in the forest if I scare the crap out of her.

Wow! It worked! I'm so damn smooth.

====================================================

Zombies have been trying to get into the department store for about 30 minutes. So far they haven't gotten in. Let's go stand around in front of the doors to motivate them to try harder.

=====================================================

"Hey guys, I'm going to chop up this zombie so we can use the blood to smell like them! Maybe it'll work! "

"Thats a great idea!"

"Yeah, I'll wear a face shield for a bit while I chop him up, but you guys stand around and watch as blood splatters anywhere and everywhere. There's no remote possibility of you getting it on you as I splash this guys guts about the room! You know what? Here, you, yeah you, take the face shield covered in blood that I was wearing and start chopping. I'll be fine, so will the others. The face shield is a magical zombie blood magnet. It redirects all the blood away from those not wearing one! Awesome!

Took me 10 minutes to enter the contest on their website due to the massive traffic. I can say that this episode certainly got massive ratings.

I have to say that the ability for this show to keep me on the edge of my seat is unparalleled for me for TV.
When I heard that crack of thunder and saw the dark clouds, I immediately started yelling at the TV "SHUFFLE FASTER!", not to mention a few other great moments. And I never yell at the TV or in movie theaters, big first for me.

Favorite zombie moment was "I love my rock." though not quite as good " O' hi Deputy!" last episode

LOL You mean the zombie that stepped into the building still holding the rock, looking like a kid that's excited to go see a movie? I loved that! I thought it looked like he was holding a big gulp drink or something haha.

Everything Egon said at the top of the page.

Complaints aside, still loved it. Hope we don't have to have a list like this after every episode, though.

Most people probably wouldn't have done the sneaking up on the woman thing, but Shane is an *******. There's a reason he's doing it.

Both episodes I was on the edge of my seat.
Last episode when the guy goes in the dark stairwell, when the kid sneaks up behind him with the shovel, and the tank scene.

This episode when they're walking through the streets not knowing whether one of the zombies might pick up their scent.

Looks like Darabont wrote the script for this episode as well.

BTW, does anyone think that the scene with the kid driving the muscle car through the streets was an homage to Omega Man?
When I was watching the sacene it reminded me of Charlton Heston zipping through the city in his Mustang.

I don't know about Omega Man, but I felt the trying to fit in with the zombies scene was a much scarier Shaun of the Dead moment.

So I've invented a new drinking game for this show. The object of the game is to drink every time the FCC cringes. I can't believe they're able to do this on television. I'm loving it though.

Am I the only one that's thought this...

Great episode. But one small thing that Egon forgot to point out was how easy it was for him to start a 2010 Challenger with a simple screwdriver. Cars like that have special computer chips in the keys to make that happen. If you're going to try doing that, it's going to take a bit more time & tools to get that thing on.

This is the first time in a very long time that I am excited for a tv show.

I wait with anticipation each week for a new episode. Sad to know season will be over soon...

4th episode is written by the creator supposedly.

I know what you mean about standing in front of the doors, but i still love it

Sponsored by the all new Dodge Challenger.

Interesting way to introduce characters earlier into than in the books, but will that mean they don't get to hole up in "that one place" and replenish their food and weapons stock?
I thought there were more kids at the base camp other than Rick's by this point.

That lovely piece of new American muscle definitely gets my vote over that ridiculous Toyota Corolla zombie commercial meant to compete with that scene.

"Look it has a GPS.":lol

Still, I like the fact that they had a zombie car commercial. Always awesome to see goofy stuff like that and the ridiculous "Cars and Freedom" Challenger commercial. It may be childish of me but that's the kind of stuff I like to see to hook my interest. I'm going to research a vehicle extensively before I buy it anyway so I don't particularly care about "Voted for Best" or "Five Star Crash Rating" junk that makes up most car commercials.

The first episode just screened here in the UK and I loved it and can't wait for the next episodes.

Chris

There's a lot I don't get about the two episodes so far.

The Sheriff ends up in a tank, A TANK. Now, I realize he might not have any training, but how about getting on that 50 cal and doing some damage?

The tank was what, a few blocks away from where the other people were holed up...heck, I think they even went through a few different buildings before arriving at the department store, yet they blamed him and his gunshots for bringing the zombies to their building? How is that possible?

How exactly did it come about suddenly that the zombies blood would infect you? In the first episode they made it sound like you would only get infected through a bite or scratch.

And last, if you're trapped in a tall building, I think it would be common sense to stay off the ground floor, and block off the stairs with as much debris as possible to prevent their use.

I'd imagine that they ran out of .50 cal. May be some in the main gun, though that would have been a lot harder to figure out, I imagine.

If zombie spit is infected, I'd say it's a safe bet that zombie blood is as well. (Also, "better safe than sorry" is a prudent rule in such occasions.)

Speaking of, I had to laugh when Rick took off the face shield and immediately wiped his face on his sleeve. Duh!

They also should have had a scene where he tried to start the tank but it's out of fuel. Modern tanks are fairly easy to drive, a lever shifts to D ( or even L ) and some handlebars steer it.
