The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

What i like about the show, is the "ORIGINAL FACTOR". Using new ideas instead of the same drawn-out plots. In The Walking Dead, zombies dont move slow like Resident Evil, but they dont run like Dawn of The Dead. It's a combination of both... And plus it's refreshing to see blood-thirsty murderous Zombies trying to chase you over a fence, giving you no time to stop and rest. I mean seriously, who ever said that zombies COULDN'T CLIMB??? It adds to the "FEAR FACTOR". Let's see you try to outrun a zombie that will stop at nothing to kill you.

Anyway, I took the test... I'm a NATURAL LEADER. The only problem is that they said I'm a caring person who would look after my family. Truth is, I'd shoot 'em and SAY they were zombies... Nah, I'd shoot 'em and say nothing. Cops ask me any questions; Shoot them too.

...Probably zombies, anyway... Cant be too careful. If they try to climb over my fence, then I'll know.

Im not digging the half running zombies or the fence climbers at all.. How are they going to ever defend the prison if they can climb fences?

I wonder if they'll end up at the prison, since they've already introduced characters that don't show up until the prison in the books.

I thought the second episode was kinda weak. Seemed like a lot of watered down 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Sean of the Dead' material thrown in to pad out a story that doesn't need padding. I missed the epic but very human feel of the pilot here.

The 'wearing the guts' sequence was quite cringe inducing for a serious drama :unsure

Whats with that zombie who looks like Kevin Bacon cropping up all the time?

:lolMy wife says the same thing: I was waiting for him to break out in some type of Footloose action:)

And folks, in my earlier post about zombie animals, I only mention it because we are already seeing a divergence from the comic on the show, which I am an advid reader of. I am just curious or rather hoping they delve into this subject on the show, i.e., why do animals not become zombies (maybe not enough brain/size of brain?) or if they do...which ones do? Surely some animals would be able to carry the "zombie sickness" like the monkees in 28 Days, birds, and dogs, again from Resident Evil.

I think it would be cool to cover, and no I don't want a Zombie "Mr. Ed" chasing Rick:)

SPOILER Below: (not really if you watched the preview, but just incase).

Sneak Peak for episode 3!

Well, in reality, many strains of diseases that infect humans do not affect animals or do not affect them in the same way. So it's not unlikely. Those reasons are usually genetic... and since we don't have any geneticists or pathologists among the group yet, it seems unlikely that we will find out exactly why.

I don't see why they still can't end up in a prison. Lots of prisons have walls rather than fences. We haven't seen any wall climbing zombies.

I haven't been this excited about a television show since "The X-Files" hit its stride in its second season. I've been a fan of the comic for quite a while -- I got hooked with issue #8 -- and I'm constantly amazed and impressed by the author's ability to end every issue with a shocking revelation or cliffhanger that leaves me sweating for the next issue. I also love how character-driven it is, which is remarkable for a comic. The zombie plague is almost incidental to the character relationships; any kind of apocalypse would have done almost as well.

So far I think that the show has done a great job. I love the makeup and don't mind the departures from the comic plot lines at all. Television's a different medium, after all. And I'm delighted that "Walking Dead" has already been picked up for more episodes. The casting is spot on. Glenn in particular is perfect! I can't wait for more of Andrea and Dale.

And even though it really is about the characters and their relationships and actions in a world that, to borrow the phrase from Stephen King, "has moved on," I was profoundly disturbed by the more cognitive zombies who could climb or break windows with rocks. I also love how big a ****** they are making Shane out to be, and I can NOT wait for that story to unfold. I only hope that this time they do NOT depart from the comic plot, because I really want to see that. I really, really do.

Wall crawling zombie, eh? Well there is the zombie Spiderman from the Marvel Zombie series...LOL. Now that would be a cross over event.

I have steered far away from the remake of Day. I heard vegetarian zombie and something about zombies that climb on the ceiling or something... it sounded bad enough for me to not even try. I haven't given Survival a chance either because of the terrible reviews.

i was wondering if there was a way to watch this online, im not usually near a television with amc when this is on. i checked hulu, and like usual hulu lets me down.

I rewatched last week's episode this morning, and it seems we still are seeing alot of "fresh zombies". I'm hoping that we start to see some show up in later stages of decay in the coming episodes.

I'm asuming that older zombies would also be slower as well. I also hope we find out just how long the brain takes to decay before these zombies start staying dead. I'd imagine that we will also start seeing some bloated ones as well from all the decaying and gas, which begs the question...will are zombies belch and fart?!

One critique of this episode...just how is it that zombies are still able to smell things?
