The Walking Dead Show Discussion - with potential spoilers

I guarantee it takes more than 3 months to plot, script, pencil, ink, get a publishing gig, go into production, etc. So, assuming that piece of information is correct, I'd be inclined to believe it was just a coincidence.

And, I thought the dudes name was Rick... what's with all the Frank?

:lol

lol, sorry. ive been mistaken calling him frank rather than rick. however, im NOT mistaken with any of the plot points ive been reiterating until ive become blue in the face.

frank/rick probably because its equally as "normal" or "regular guy" as the next one.

so, you think he wrote the original comic in three months after 28 days debuted in the us? can i pretend to ignore things such as "preproduction" and "conception" on a movie prop replica website too?

and we're debating a kiss in an episode about a comic too? i cant understand this place at all. had frank NEVER showed up, would she still be screwing around with shane regardless if she liked it or not?

ask yourselves that. it was implied, even if it were a one night(by her "admission" to frank AFTER A DEATH), it would happen again, because FRANK. WAS. ASSUMED. DEAD. BY. LORI. WHO. WANTED. TO. SEE. THAT. SHE. AND. CARL. SURVIVED.

come on. you all read the book right? stop acting like you arent able to read into things and have to be spoon fed plot points.

Um. You chastise us and claim you don't understand this place because of the "debate" - yet you continue it.

It's not about what would've happened - it's about what happened. Lori was pretty disgusted by Shane and there's no telling WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED OR WHAT LORI WOULD HAVE DONE - unless your Robert Kirkman, but no you're just another random dude on the internet bitching about people debating plot points and then doing the same damn thing.

BTW - did you read the book or watch the show? I'm pretty sure the character was named Rick, not Frank.

Hypocrite.

Thanks for the belittling post, you're so pleasant to talk to. It's a monthly comic book, so he's only ever a couple months ahead anyway. He had three months to change the intro (more than six if he saw or read about the UK release). The author himself says,
" That first issue came out in October of 2003 and 28 Days Later was released in the States in June of 2003. So we were working on our second issue by the time I saw it. It was going to be a matter of somehow trying to restage the entire first issue, because it was a very similar coma opening. I made a decision—which I pretty much regret at this point"
So there, all I'm saying is that it's possible he changed his opening after he saw 28 days later because he thought it was cool. In the least this shows that he was aware of the similarities, had the opportunity to change it and didn't, which from your previous posts you claimed was an impossibility.

No. why is it no one does their home work around here?

The Walking Dead Came Before 28 Days Later Says Creator - Contactmusic News
The Walking Dead/28 Days Later thing...

any google search with "28 days later walking dead" will get you results. do some homework. instead of shrug it off and say "its open to your interpretation." you cant throw out a comic book created from the ground up in three months.

a comic book is worked on long before its released to the general public. a movie is worked on long before its released to the general public. its called "pre production."

"The Walking Dead" (2010) - FAQ

just out of curiosity do you like just posting for the sake of doing it?

If you are talking to me, in the above post:

No...I post because I enjoy social interaction. I am a Manager, and part of my job has always been to develop/teach associates and interact with customers and associates everyday...and it is something I enjoy to do. I spend roughly 90% of my day doing it, so it is only natural that I post alot here...even if it is a simple...great job, or OMG...you got beat by a guy wearing a penis costume...which I still find extremly funny...actually brought a smile to my face throughout my day today. So, thanks again for that:thumbsup As far as your post go...I have to ask, are you trying to come off as a deush?

...
a kiss is not a contract

The Walking Dead (Image comic book) - 78 issues
Shane had fallen in love with Lori over the past few months, thinking Rick was dead and dealing with the apocalypse, and they had formed a fledgling relationship. When Rick returned, Shane lost both Lori and leadership of the group. He turned on Rick, believing that killing him was the only way to get back into the position he was in before Rick arrived
but it's very nice

Shane (comic book character)
The support Shane gives her is the first she recieves in a long time ever since Rick's falling into a coma and the zombie outbreak. Eventually she has an affair with Shane, albeit left with regret for having let herself go ahead with it.
yes it's very nice

Just because you've been exploring my mouth
Doesn't mean you get to take an expedition to the south

I don't have cable, and usually rely on Hulu for shows like SGU and Caprica. However, I did find that you can purchase and download episodes.

Walking Dead appears to be available at:

Amazon.com ($1.99 per episode)
Amazon.com: The Walking Dead: Season 1, Episode 1 "Days Gone Bye": Video On Demand

iTunes (HD version - $2.99 for first episode)
iTunes Store - The Walking Dead - The Walking Dead, Season 1

iTunes has a $15.99 price for a season pass which sounds pretty reasonable. I think I'll go that route since I've used iTunes for other shows before, not to mention I'd love to watch these fine looking zombies in hi-def!

I don't mind the purchase because it supports the show and helps them make more episodes....

Whoever is doing the makeup is doing a fantastic job. Ditto on the special effects.

Did anyone take part in The

Walking Dead, Zombie Crawl?

The behind-the-scenes video on bicycle girl said it took 6 hours to get her into makeup and prosthetics, and that's not including the cgi guts.

Glad that most of you are liking it! I worked in the wardobe dept. for pre-pro and some of the 1st ep, before turning my job over to my 'apprentice-ager-dyer'. We painted & dyed the majority of the clothes for the show.
A lot of my friends & co-workers from Netherworld (haunted attractions) worked as zombies on the show & a few of our local makeup artists were on the makeup team as well. I think they did an awesome job!!
My boss (the owner of Netherworld) was one of the horse-eaters...it was hilarious listening to him describe that experience!

As I think someone mentioned already...28 Days lifted their opening from Day of The Triffids - lock, stock and deserted London. In fact, 28 Days IS pretty much Day of the Triffids, with the infected replacing killer plants. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland cough to this in the commentry, as well as 'borrowing' the infected trooper from Day of the Dead as a homage...

So I'd say it's a pretty well-worn opening scenario for apocalyptic stories.

Could they have come up with something more original for Walking Dead?

Probably. But I thought it was realised more effectiveley than 28 Days, where I found the lead character's walking around a major city for hours without encountering any infected or dead bodies pretty hard to buy into.

Rick's exit from the the hospital in TWD, complete with the 'Dead Inside' sequence and the piled up corpses in the car lot was truly chilling.

Watched this last sun and loved it. Ya the story line is familiar but they always will be. Most movies are just retelling of the same stories. Doesn't matter to me. It's like Avatar, yes it's like Dances with wolves but i doubt the writer of Dances with wolves had anything like Avatar in his head when he wrote it.
Glad to see AMC has picked up where SyWWFi dropped the ball.

Is it Sunday yet?! I'm looking forward to see just how much of the comic is changed to fit on T.V., and what new characters or story lines develop to further "flesh out" the characters we allready know.
