The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

I've enjoyed collection Playstation trophies as its something extra fun to try and achieve and I really like that they out a date stamp on each one, so I can go back and when I got each one.
And the PS4 takes a picture, and PS5 a short video.
With PS4, I always like it when you get a really hard trophy and the picture is really cool, and even better when its the Platinum.
I just finished the Kingdom Hearts dlc trophies.
Kinda glad, as I can go do other stuff finally.
I like seeing that 100% for both.
Anyone else like collecting trophies/achievements, or similar?

Yeah trophy hunting is fun as long as its not multiplayer related. A challenge Im down for (unless its those insane collectathons) but multiplayer just sucks since you often need to cooperate to get trophies and servers go down eventually.

I dont go for getting a particular "shot" but I do have an issue where I sort of "plan out" what trophy I want to achieve last so I do get a cool shot when I get my last trophy and thus, the platinum. Ideally, the platinum pops up at the ending cinematic or a nice shot. Hence I purposefully go for the collecting challenges and multiplayer trophies first (multi so they are done and I can take my time without fear of server shutdown). Made getting the RDR2 trophy a slog.

with haste from Chrono Trigger. I got pretty technical with some stuff. Figured someone here might enjoy it.....and right at 3:24, I had meant to crop more off the video screen capture and didn't catch it until after posting that my browsers tabs were still in the shot....so the RPF gets a little cameo....as does part of my email...thankfully just barely cut off....

Pretty cool since I just started replaying Chrono Trigger again. I honestly still think this is one of the best JRPGs ever made and other games just done reach the same level. Might try the sequel but Ive heard bad things.

It is definitely an easy game where character tiers dont make a difference but good job getting to max level with all characters. How many playthroughs did that take?

Nice video by the way. Ive been wanting to make videos myself honestly but hate my voice.

You should play through Chrono Cross, just absolutely do not expect Chrono Trigger 2. A big part of the beginning feels like a completely different game, until you get to a certain area and it more comes together.
As for getting everyone maxed out, since I'm playing the Playstation version that came out in 2001, its hard to say.
Definitely over a few playthroughs.
I still remember getting everyone to level ** probably sometime in 1996 while playing on SNES. For that, I spent hours and hours in the giants claw cave.

Sequel to the NES classic Shadowgate in the works

Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot FINALLY gets a release date

Next batch of Mario Kart tracks coming

Only a few days away now

Been trying to find a specific commodore game from back in the day and cannot for the life of me come up with it.

IIRC you were a bug that shot from the bottom of the screen at other bugs as they came down from the top. There were trees/bushes in between that would take damage and disappear over multiple hits.

Had graphics on par with Atari consoles, pretty basic, not quite NES level stuff.

Am totally adrift on this one.
Used to play it at a grandparent's house along with Seesaw

Sounds kind've like Centipede.

Total War Warhammer III Immortal Empires finally upon us with a nice teaser for Chaos Dwarves at the end.

Also the Beyond Shadowgate Kickstarter launched an hour ago and they are only $3000 away from their target goal at last check, so that's pretty much a guarantee.

I'm replaying KOTOR and I have to say, even with 2003 graphics, this game is still fun! It looks dated, but not much. The music is still great. It seems a LOT easier now though. I would usually level up to 4 and then save the levels until I became a Jedi and it was slog before. It seems very easy now though! I probably haven't played it since 2010/11.

Finished my first playthru of Gotham Knights and quite enjoyed it overall. There are some frustrating aspects here and there, but on the whole I think it's a well-done game with a solid story that is DEFINITELY NOT AN ARKHAM GAME, OK?!?!?! But for what it is, it's pretty good.

This might be the rare game that I actually try a NG+ with. I almost never do that. But for now, I'm gonna let it sit for a bit.

In other gaming...sadly, Darktide seems to have run out of steam a scant 3-ish months after release. Development slowed down dramatically, and player numbers have plummeted. It feels like this is a game that was released way too early, was supposed to run on a Live Service model, supported by microtransactions, and it launched without a bunch of features and with a bunch of bugs, and then the developers took a month off for vacation (literally -- they're Swedes, so they get like a month around Christmas). I honestly question whether that game will be able to turn around. I've seen this same problem happen with other "Live Service With a ****** Launch" games like Battlefield V, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and Marvel's Avengers. All of these games had great cores but never really reached their potential due to mismanagement and greed.

On deck, I have...well, tons of games to play, really, but I'm thinking I might try Marvel's Midnight Suns, although I'm thinking maybe I might take a break from superhero games for a bit and find something a little more straightforward to play, like a SP FPS or something. I dunno.

Been getting way into Metroid Dread the last week or so, while picking at the FF pixel remasters.
Think I'm gonna give Tales of Arise a shot once I wrap up Metroid.

I'll be getting the Pixel Remasters for PS4, as I'll be another fun challenge getting all the trophies. I've played through FF6 probably a good 12 times over the years. I don't think I've played it in around 5 though, so I'm due to play again. I keep seeing Spring as the launch for consoles. Hoping a March or latest April window for those.

April 20th is when the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters are supposed to drop for Switch and PS4.
