outstanding Costume man! very nicely done! I think I saw you outside the fan hall Fri night, right before the Bombscare!!!

Great costume though.

I think you got side clasps that are about three times too big. Otherwise, SUPERB job on that costume!

Sheesh, I made mine 7 years ago and apart from an upgrade here and there, it shows (flightsuit instead of coveralls, etc). I need to get my gear up to the current standard (although it is RL approved). ;)

Well, if we're posting pictures....

The glare sucks but oh well.

I need to get new straps that are the right color, but those were a rush job (and free!) and when I do I'll add the mini flares.

My chest box and insertion locks look really similar to mansugi's! ;)

Sure do. Sorry for the size....

Yeah, I know, you're supposed to cut the inner lens down... well... I was uber paranoid about cracking it in half, so I just left it. Its on the to-do list to fix.

Well, sometimes it's fun to let things weather naturally. If she does a lot of costuming, it'll get a 100% authentic used look.

That's what she keeps telling me when I comment on it. :p

I agree with Treadwell that these side insertion locks look way too big:

And I wonder who made this helmet. Looks like fiberglass? The amber visor looks weird because the bottom is straight, not curved inward. It's not formed for the nose, either. It's almost like they forgot to form the bottom part.

Should be curved like Liz's:

And I am so sick of seeing the Luke paint scheme! :sick Come on people, show some originality and paint your own! (Like Liz!(y)cool)

Here's mine:

I still need to finish the rest of my costume though. :redface :rolleyes

This thread has become so massive, I almost feel like starting a new one for the sake of convenience, but here we go...

No one ever talks about the belt. It's the same material as the safety harness but is NOT attached to it, right? It's a separate piece that's just buckled around the waist.

It seems to spin all over the place - the buckles and whatever those bullet-like things are supposed to be are never in the same place twice!

If you pack a sidearm, is the holster on the web belt, or is there another belt added for that?

Thanks for everyone's input. This is one of the best threads EVER.

The web belt is indeed the same material as the ejection harness, and is indeed a seperate piece. If you're having trouble keeping it "straight," maybe try a bit of velcro that attaches the belt to the waist of your suit to keep it from moving.

As for the holster/gun-belt, I think it varies [aka, I'm not 100% sure]. For myself, I just wear a gunbelt with leg holster and no web-belt; I find that wearing both is too cluttered for my taste. If you wanted to, I'm sure you would wear a holster attached to the web belt, depending on how sturdy the belt is - mine isn't strong enough to support the weight of the gun, so I wear the gun-belt instead. Here's a good sample of what I'm talking about from a convention this past weekend (all Rebel Legion approved too; I'm in the middle)

Yes, it certainly makes sense to ditch the web belt in favor of a leather one when you've got a holster.

I guess to be absolutely canon, you'd only wear a holster if you were doing ESB Luke. I know of no other x-wing pilot sporting a blaster, although if I were shot down, I'd sure want one!

I think I won't secure the web belt at the waist - I kind of like the idea of the buckle landing randomly where it will, a la ANH.

Probably wear my flak vest backwards sometimes, too!

The web belt is definatly a seperate piece. What I'm trying to figure out now is how its exactly attatched (as in, where to put the extra material that went through the buckle)

If you wanted a blaster, I would make a leather gunbelt with holster. Even if you keep the web belt on with the gun belt, chances are its not going to be seen anyway. But its your call.

When I made my belt, after I sewed the buckle onto the strapping, I also sewed a little piece of velcro on the back side of the belt, with another little piece on the "extra" material.
So when I put it on, I cinch it with the buckle, and velcro the extra piece behind the belt so it's hidden.
Hope that makes sense. . . I have all my costume stuff stored right now, so it would take some digging to get it out for pics.

I did the same thing with my web belt. the front tab has a piece of velcro on it and I positioned the opposite Piece of Velcor exactly where the belt tab rests agains the belt when I have the belt seucred on.

I wear the web belt tight enough that it does not move, and I can get consistant positioning Every time.

I also have a longer Torso, and can wear both a Leather Gunbelt and the web belt without it looking too cluttered.

This works for both of my holster options. The Cross Draw DL-44 holster and the Luke ESB style for my custom Bryar blaster.
