Do most people just scratch build the 'compad' on the arm?

I have seen just about every possiblity. Resin ones, vac formed ones, and scratch built.

I personally have a Corellian Exports Resin Comm Padd for my orange Suit and a Wakal Resin one for the Black (Imperiall Gunner) and Grey one (AT-ST Driver, in progress & Custom X-Wing pilot)

The Corellian Exports is very good if you have the comm padd pocket sewn into the suit. The sides extend out from the "buttons". it's also curved to better fit your arm

The Wakal one is also curved, but the sides stop not far from the "Buttons" I find this a better solution if you just sew a piece of velcro onto your sleave and put the comm padd on that way

All of the Vac Formed ones I've seen are all flat, not curved. And you don't always get good detailing in the "buttons" some of them look very washed out and indescript.

Hey Guys.

In case anyone is interested I am putting my full x-wing costume minus the boots up in the junkyard. So take a look it comes with everything from Guantlets to the comm pad. RA helmet, chest box, leg flares.

Check it out in the junkyard for more pics and such.

Cheers.

Looks good. I like the dark shot with lit saber the most. Looks like you've done a very nice job on your costume, and it just pushes the rest of us to get on with ours. :$

Great costume.
Who did your helmet?

Sorry it took so long to reply, just caught up with this thread again...

Thanks - I finished and painted the helmet myself from a vacuform kit.

I joined the RL, first troop this Saturday to launch the new DVD's. :p

I had to rip the sides of the mohawk on my helmet off and reglue them. The helmet side pulls that Richie sent were so warped, glueing them in along a straight seam made them look off kilter, so I found I had to release part of the center seam, "bow" them, and reglue them in a way that looked even, rather than using the straight lines of the mohawk strip as a guide. Anyone else have this problem?

My kit wasn't from Richies, but it was a vacuform kit. I didn't have quite the same problem with my mohawk, but it was a tricky part of the build gluing it into position. I found that that best way was to glue a couple of inches at a time, keep it pressed down until it sets then continue.

looking great Al!

Have you added the ribbing/hose in the flak-vest since you took the pic`s?

Mansugi,
Nice stuff! Do you make the leg flare holder? If you make those, I might be interested in one.
You can PM me with cost if you like. :)
