The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

Hello guys, Well, Better late than never as they say, “The journey has begun” Well it did about 3 weeks ago but i never thought i would actually get this far let alone this quick but it just kind of happened, and feeling a sense of joy and excitement and been itching to get on here so here i am, First of all i’d like to say after reading through this whole thread i have seen some absolutely beautiful parts and builds you all have, This is how far i have gotten myself into this, Pretty much only the 2 hardest parts left to get obviously and to be honest i don't fancy my chances of finding those anytime soon, It's pretty much a pipe dream at the moment thinking about those, But will just have to see what happens i guess, I know my Hales no.3 isn't the prettiest of the bunch but i love the patina on it it’s perfect for me, It has had a bit of a restoration as when i got it it was pretty much a rusty relic and had the common broken ring, So i spruced that up a bit and repaired it to make it somewhat more presentable, But anyway just wanted to say hi and check myself in with you guys MTFBWY
Another Piece to the puzzle sourced, A massive thank you to Chris (cdyoung) for letting go of his spare booster and giving me this huge step forward on this build.

Well I'm confused - budgeting $20K for a toy is fine, but hunting down the last piece is "more money than sense" ??? Depending on the model it looks like there's 7-10 transistors in there, so the person that won paid about...$200 each. That would still make it one of the cheaper obi parts.

Actually it’s either 5 or 7 cans so that makes it either $240 or $330 a can for a part that is still conjecture and speculation at this point and not 100% confirmed as *the* part.

Remember when Motorola MA 2 series cans were “for certain” the transistors that were used? Or the Solitron cans? This is still a best guess even though it seems this is our best find to date.

Plus buddy on eBay was still selling the DAT 11’s for $50 a pop the last time I checked, so yes... more money than sense.

That said, if you’re comfortable with spending that kind of money there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We all have our comfort levels on what we’d be willing to spend on items. People are dropping $8k on balance pipes these days when we used to think $1.2k was a reach.

But $600 for a pair of transistor cans is a tad excessive for me personally. I don’t have to be the first out of the gate nor bragging rights and can wait for a more reasonable price point.
