The Ultimate Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi Real Vintage Parts Lightsaber Group

Hey guys, Me again, I have just acquired this pair of AS hand wheels, But im just curious if anyone has any knowledge as the top cap is a variant, Under inspection with my “Usual” version they are identical in every way and come apart exactly the same, Apart from the cap being made of metal and the “Armitage Shanks” logo being the only difference, Slightly earlier or later version perhaps? Comparison with my Hot “usual” version is on the right next to the variant Hot, Any knowledge would be very helpful, Thanks guys.
Interesting. I guess either one could have been on the actual prop(s) since we have no definitive photos of the top caps - only the cubes.

I'm curious, does your variant also say "REG DES" around the outer base? As far as I know, the "REG DES" marking cannot be seen in the Chronicles photos. Maybe that marking was just out of view in the Chronicles photos, but maybe (if your variant doesn't even include the "REG DES") something more like your variant was actually used on the prop(s).

Yes they have REG DES, Everything is literally identical apart from the cap, Im very intrigued by them as a couple people have said they have seen them in the past but very rarely, They came from a Twyfords pink sink here in the UK

Thanks for checking. BTW, I just learned that REG DES stands for a Registered Design in Britain:

What are registered designs

"Registered Designs are for the eye appeal of an object. They are applied for at The Intellectual Property Office."

Pretty cool. And it seems appropriate for the design of a sink knob.

I think the Reg Des is right there on the Chronicles pictures

I started this journey of aquiring the parts to build this prop on the 9th of December, almost three months later I have finished my all real parts Obi-Wan Lightsaber prop. I have many people who I would like to thank who helped me in getting these parts. I'm very happy and excited to own such a wonderful piece of history.

Here's the pedigree of my saber. The parts all go farther back obviously, but these are those who I recieved my parts from in helping me put this build together. I will also list these in the order I received them. I give great thanks to the names listed below.

Booster: Khal of KR sabers
Grenade: Khal of KR sabers
Exactra: Ebay
Graflex Clamp: Ebay
Marconi 10Pin: Ebay
Airplane vintage washer Ebay
Handwheel Cold: Chaicharn RPF
Handwheel Hot: ( not shown but keeping) Marv RPF
Female Balance Pipe: 5th engine to be found. Diego Silvestri

Congratulations on finishing it.

That’s now the 5th correct engine to be purchased.
Thanks and thanks for the correction, post editted. So if my calculations are correct and they sometimes are that’s 45 confirmed female balance pipes.

I thought I was happy with my replica. But it is making me want all the other parts :) View attachment 1422551
It looks nice, I'd flip the washers and use a file to put a chamfer on the other side, but other than that. I would just slowly try to get the parts one at a time if you want. I got them all in almost three months, but it really in all honestly should have taken me longer, it just lined up for me which for me in life rarely happens. Any of the parts are worth having and you can always substitute parts for replicas until you get replacements. Even just a real grenade on a Romans looks super cool. I originally went into this thinking if it takes me 10 years to finally get all the parts that's okay. I was willing to wait and slowly get them one at a time. This prop is the pinnacle of all the Star Wars props and something I was willing to pay for and be patient to get. I don't think you'd regret it and worse case scenario you can get your money back out.

Congrats on finishing your saber so quickly Seth! It's a beauty for sure! I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing a few more completed sabers here in a little while :)

There's already a chamfer on the other side, but I don't have a tool to make them nicely countersunk so I generally keep them flipped like on the other picture. Let me know if you think flipped are more accurate ... always good to have a second opinion for these things :)

As for the rest of the real parts ... I never seriously considered it before , but yeah, if you could do it just for three months then maybe it would not be totally impossible for me to collect them over few years I guess.

Here is a post of where I keep my Obi saber, under the TV stand. Next to it is my extra Exactra calculator. I wanted to show off that I have as stand for it. I know several guys here have been looking and asking for a stand including me for their calculator. This is a great cheap option fits the calculator and looks nice. I'm sorry in advance if this is an inappropriate place to put this link, but I thought it would be nice to share and help a brother out.
