The Topknot Build. New photos of torso life cast build. 05/07/2015

I happy to say I got a few more hours in this morning. I worked on some more symmetry, and started on the brow area.

Here are some shots of the symmetry. I found that taking photos and studying them helps me to see flaws.

I started playing with the area around the eyes and above the teeth there. He has a little bit of a
pumpkinhead look. I would look some input on this as I'm not sure about it.

What the Hell ! You have some major talent my friend ! It is starting to look like pumkin head. But i love it.dont change what you are doing. If your still going with silicone it will be epic !.

Hey Tony here is a profile shot. I got a lot of clay on today. No more big amounts to push on.

I started playing with an idea for where the dreads erupt from the head. I'm not sure yet. I like the circular
area under the dreads but I think I may go for a more bony look around the top of the hole.

So you are saying this form at the back of the crest is to accompany smaller dreads for the/a "Top Knot".

Man, this some really intricate stuff naow!  (y)

Yeah thats lookin pretty sweet ! Looks like it has a pretty big brain pan. Lol i am sure uou will fill it with something .

Looks funny with a big mouth and small mandibles
Wouldnt be better to sculpt the lower mandibles a lil bit longer?
Just saying
I know its far from finished! Keep up the great work :D

That is an interesting view. I wanted the lower mandibles to hug the face when closed. It might look different to you when the skin is in place between the mandibles. Thanks for checking in Jose.

I can't wait to see this finished, it's gonna be great! I was wondering, what design are you going for, meaning is it a classic, p2, etc., or a custom build?

Eli

I ended up changing the lower mandibles. One of my friends, I won't name any names Jose, pointed out to me the mandibles looked funny short. After much studying I decided he was right so I lengthened them. It actually helped me out in another way also. I was trying to figure out how I would attach the tusks to the final mask. What you see here is metal tubing glued to the tusk. Once the mask is in place on the under structure I will just slide the tucks into place.

Cracking work as always, I'd never really thought about the bottom mandibles being too short, but now you've lengthened them I think it looks better. The idea of the separate tusks sounds good.

I really like the way you are doing the dread intergration. But why the hell are those hands not done !!! You are just teasing us leaving them in the background !!!

Hey Tony I will get at those hands but I gotta get the head done first. Here are a few updates. Got the upper mandibles in place today. It doesn't seem l;ike much but it was about two hours of tinkering.

Really wanting to see how your animatronics work. I haven't seen anyone of the ones I have seen so far who have managed to pull off the way the mandibles open in the film. Most people just make them go sideways when the are meant to fling open.
