Hey Dude, nice to hear from you. I am sculpting a knew Topknot over this armature. The cables can be bought at radio control airplane hobby shops. I use the cover but put in a lighter cable as the ones that come with them are pretty stiff. I just checked out your Bumble Bee bio earlier. Very unique and cool not to mention well executed.
The bumble bee bio is wonkos work lol
Not mine
Thanks for the info of the mechanism materials gonna look in to that :D

Love it - I must admit the duct tape over the mandibles had me confused, but now you've explained why you used it, it makes perfect sense. Look forward to seeing the sculpt take shape.

In the infamous words of 'Mater'....DAD GUM!!!!  o_O Have you been contacted yet by any movie studios? This build is absolutely EPIC Jeff. Just simply incredible and a joy to follow. Thanks for all the detailed updates.

Sorry Jose, I don't know why I thought that was yours.

Thanks Troggs, I'm looking forward to the sculpt myself.

I extended the neck with resin.

I pushed a little clay today. I'm using Van Aken's Klean clay. It is very creamy so I would say I like it so far.
I only got an hour or so in. I'm starting with the mouth.

I'm hoping to get some good time in tomorrow.

Hey I found these old Stan Winston studio photos that someone sent me years ago. I took photos of them and looked to post them in the reference area but could not so here they are. Enjoy.

Just an FYI, some of those pics are in the stan winston book, I have it, and it's very resourceful. Just thought I'd let you know :)

Actually none of those pictures are in the SW book, those shots my friend I have never seen. (the angles). So those pictures are unique photos

Jeff: This suit is incredible, the amount of detail and thought put into every parts is top notch.

Thanks everyone. Yea I actually pulled the book out this morning to look through it. Even if the photos were in there I
figured people might like to see them that don't have the book.
I decided in the middle of the night two nights ago I needed to make the chin and lower mandibles on the plug removable just in case.

I cut he chin off then lined it back up and drilled three holes. I did that backwards. I should have drilled the holes first.

The holes marked my spots for the magnets. I used a Fausner bit and drilled for the magnets and glued
them in. That hollow spot is were the hydrocal was. There was no drilling that stuff. I will fill that void later
before I pour for the actual mask.

I drilled the holes for the mandibles first, see I can learn from my mistakes. Once drilled I cut them off
and cut the pins (nails) to the right lengths. I will just leave the pins sticking out as I did this part mostly for the initial
mold removal. I'm planning on removing the 2 outside halves of the mold, then  clearing away the clay and pulling the pins to
the remove mandibles so I can then remove the mold piece that will be left in the mouth. Is that clear as mud?

That's all for now. So far so good.

With the head sculpted.  It seems like you are getting very close to bringing this bad boy to life.  I think I can speak for many following this thread, that I am just as excited to see this suit complete (pics and videos) as you surely must be.  Great work and an inspiration for anyone trying to learn costume and prop making.  This thread is like a free class at the Stan Winston school really.

There is just so much detail you are putting into Topknot. This is one of those threads that is going to be used as reference 30+ years from now. You will have a predator god once he is finished. If you said you worked on the original movie with Stan Winston studios, I wouldn't question it.

This is really amazing. The detail put into this is incredible! I don't know if you've already answered this, but what type of clay are you using? For mine, I used WED clay. I just wanted to hear some different types so I can choose wisely. Again, amazing start!

Lots of thought gone into this as usual, and that's one vicious set of teeth you've used there.
Thanks troggs, the teeth are left over from the other head. They are the first dental acrylic teeth I ever did. By the way the movie "Trog" gave me my first
idea of a movable face for a mask. I believe they used that mechanism initially in 2001 Space Odyssey and later in the Chubacca head.

Backbone you are to kind. I really like sharing what I am doing and I have to tell you this sight really motivates me to do this stuff. I'm just trying to make
something cool.

Hey  Eli, thanks. I am using Van Aken clean clay alternative. This is my first time using it and I am really liking it. It is smooth and creamy.

Are you gonna add spikes to make it more gruesome or just gonna go normal look,?
Hey Jose, no spikes. I'm going after a bit of P1 and some of Narin.

Here are a couple of updates. I am pretty sure this is how I will leave the inside of the mouth.
