The Topknot Build. New photos of torso life cast build. 05/07/2015

Thanks guys. I started roughing in the shape of the head today. Here is what I have so far. I really would like some input on this. I made the forehead sort of bulbous just to see how it looked. I actually like it as seems very alien. Let me know what ya'll think.

Just starting to put clay on here.

It really helped to take pictures then study them as asymmetry starts to glare at you.
This is way off right here.

Comparing to the maquette.

The symmetry is coming together here.

Great thread!

After seeing your leg, hands, and armor sculpts the first thing that came to mind was: "You take the Hulk and a Predator, mash them together, and bam...Topknot!".

Just like the rest of the components, the direction it looks like you're taking will fit it nicely. In one of your previous posts, you mentioned using P1 and Narin's work as a reference. You can't go wrong with P1 and Narin has some real nice "out of the box" looks in his design. The look seems like a powerful lower mandible would look good.

Here's a link to Joe Dunaway's site, he has a lot of Narin work on there.

That looks awesome, I like the pronounced forehead look. I always thought the jungle hunters eyebrows and nose area looked smooshed like a pugs face, but just enough to make him menacing.

I agree with the powerful lower Mandibles, that would look wicked. Are you going to tie in the aligator like scales into the head any?

EDIT:I don't know how I didn't see it, but that split in the crown is a genius idea.

Hey Backbone, thanks. The split is so I can get some smaller dreads coming out of there for the topknot thing. I don't think the scales will be much on the
head. I am not completely curtain yet.

The top of the head, the dome, its gonna be wider on the forehead area, than the back?
Yes Jose that is the deal. Narin has a new bust out that gave me the notion.

Thanks everyone. I got to spend just a little time on it today. More mouth stuff.
Still a lot to do in there.,

I really want people to go "Wow" not just because his mouth moves but because it looks really cool in there.

Well you're making me go wow! :) The level of detail, time, and patience put into this blows me away. I'm loving your work!

Eli

...............you really think people are going to get close enough to you to notice?? lol......dude........wow is the ONLY words comming out of anyones mouths when this is finished, it's going to be absolutely jaw dropping.

Got some good time in on the mouth. Mounted the lower tusks so I could start sculpt around them.

Attached them with hot glue so I can take them off easy when I'm ready to mold.

Here is some finished work around the lower teeth. I decide to place some quills there on the chin.

I'm working on the neck and under the chin now. Thanks for checkin in.

Happy New Year all. Been working on the throat area. In the past I sort of neglected this area so this time around I want
to do something cool. I was looking at alligator throats and then some photos of Stan Winston's T-rex and decided to use some of these ideas .

Comments are welcome. Thanks for looking

Well it looks very real and functional, with the flaps, its like theres a muscle there to open the mandibles, way to start the year
