The SFS stormtrooper helmet replica, new and improved.

Thanks, guys! :)

I gave the little bugger a mostly accurate interior as well, and I made a small helmet stand.
I even simulated small snaps on the chin strap.

A paint test done by the moldmaker on the 1:1 SFS. It is cast in the green/grey khaki HDPE/PP color. Though. the grey detailing is a little darker than it should be, but was good enough for the quick 2-day paint test. It will probably be repainted later.

Wow fantastic Carsten. It's great to see something that finally does that scan justice. :)

I believe anybody can do a decent paint job. Its just about taking your time and patience. I'm sure you'll do great Carsten.

Ben

I have to be honest: the paint job in general is very good (paint chippings and such), but I find the detail work, especially in the rear traps (the lines...) to be quite sloppy and off.

All traps and tears have lines/outlines that are a hint too fat, which makes the whole helmet look a bit odd.

I was more commenting on the fact that a full size full resolution print has finally come to light considering the low resolution print out that was the TE SFS we are used to.I agree about the traps but as you say it's a rush job to see what the results are.

Well, I don't think the TE SFS was a low resolution job. It was just carved in foam, and then subsequently cleaned up. A very different process from printing. From what I've heard, if I remember correctly, the foam master had a lot or some of the details on it, but it was removed when making the casts.

Even considering this was a 2-day rush job... I doubt my more meticulous paint job will be anywhere near that quality. I'm a perfectionist, who suffers from the worst infliction such can have: laziness.

I also find the thought of painting this up daunting Carsten. I might not have the courage when the time comes. Only time will tell if I go for it :lol

The test paint looks great considering the time constraints.

I am looking forward to this.

BIG thumbs up to the prop maker for all his work on this.

Well, with my TE RotJ, RSProps ABS ANH, Vader TM ESB, being very, very slowly prepared for painting... I really have my hands full... so having the SFS added to that list is just an interesting mix of projects.

Painting wise I think the RSProps is gonna be the easiest... but I just don't like trimming those ears. You hear me ears... I loathe you.

Something more. The mold maker has been working on a 4-piece version with some refinements, such as at the eyes to remove the gonk (will be done before molding) and sanding down the gonk on the tube stripes, so they are smooth and sit flatter to the tube surface. He has also done a cast from the SFS brow trim in rubber - not pictured yet. He also sculpted the top part and rear of the face mask back in that is hidden under the back'n'cap based on reference.

And I finally got a chance to take a few pictures together with my TE RotJ.
