One entry per user. If he has a costume that he wants to enter he'll have to do so under his username. :)

By all means though in his build thread he can link to yours talking about his costume. Just make sure that all the requirements are in his thread. :thumbsup

he doesn't have an account here though. so i guess we can't join. hehe. good luck to everyone though! :thumbsup

He's more than welcome to register an account! Part of what these contests are for is recruitment. :D

You should encourage him to!

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

some questions(sorry if these have already been answered):

1. so eligibility is determined by the extent to which you contributed to the final product(the assembled costume)? Then do research and financial investment count? For example, most Indiana Jones costumes in these parts are highly accurate, but i daresay most buy the gear rather than a sewing pattern?

assuming i'm not totally off the rails already:

2. say most of my effort went into weathering and any given part was otherwise ready to go. About how long would my Sandtrooper need to have been on active duty to enter the contest?

3. what if your SO's costume is an original project you made just for them, or was assembled from your personal collection? it's a contest of the craft after all. in that same vein, would not a mannequin be just as good, or do we really need to be wearing the costume ourselves?

4. am i being way too anal about this and need to just go have a cookie?

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

Quick question who's the Jedi in the pic and where can I see more of that particular costume?

A "sourced" costume is a valid entry. What we would be looking for in that case is a build thread on the journey you took to research the best pieces and then what you did to make them look just right for your costume. The more info you can provide the better.

2. say most of my effort went into weathering and any given part was otherwise ready to go. About how long would my Sandtrooper need to have been on active duty to enter the contest?

Five years. :lol Seriously though if you just bought a completed Sandtrooper costume it wouldn't be admissible however most trooper costumes I've seen come as kits and even if you got a completed kit you would still have to source your weapon, pouches, etc. Also for a good Sandtrooper you have to weather it up to look beaten in. All these make the costume eligible for entry.

3. what if your SO's costume is an original project you made just for them, or was assembled from your personal collection? it's a contest of the craft after all. in that same vein, would not a mannequin be just as good, or do we really need to be wearing the costume ourselves?

If your SO (significant other for anyone curious) has a great costume to enter get them to sign up and enter it. :) For the photos it has to be the entrant (you) in costume. No mannequins for the proof photo or the gallery photo. Feel free to take mannequin shots for your build thread though.

4. am i being way too anal about this and need to just go have a cookie?

Not too anal, better safe than sorry! Feel free to have a cookie anyway though. :)

You'll have to ask Art. I have no idea. ;)

Presumably it's someone from a photo shoot he did.

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

Got a reply from Art re: visible votes.

Votes will be visible throughout the voting. He doesn't believe there's a way to hide them.

Re: Nastiness coming from this I will be monitoring contest threads VERY carefully to try and prevent issues. This was something the Mods weren't able to do last time. By all means we expect people to encourage others to vote for them but understand that any attempt to sabotage another member's entry will be dealt with immediately. Possibly with expulsion from the contest.

It's a competition, be competitive, but also be positive. If you don't have something nice to say please don't say it.

I hope my dedication to helping things go smoothly eases some fears regarding this issue. It's the best I can do. :thumbsup

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

I've done that...about thirteen times, and the photo never shows up after it says it's uploaded.

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

Sharpshooter, I just checked the gallery, and I can see your photo. It's there! :)

Re: *** the RPF 2012 Halloween Costume Contest ***

Just a thought. I really want to win this but feel like my idea is too good not to share.
It is the RedBUll Stratos suit. The guy went up to space in a hot air balloon and then broke the sound barrier jumping out with a parachute. FROM SPACE! SO I would rather have completed the suit and then posted a pic, but this costume has a shelf-life and the clock it ticking.
My talent is not attention to detail, it is creatively using stuff I had laying around.
