The new Captain America??

I don't think there's any way to explain it other than to say "some of us find it concerning that they're considering him for the part." I'm sure we'll be even more concerned about the project if news comes around that they've cast him, but I think it makes sense to have a reaction to this sort of insight on how the powers-that-be view the character if you're a fan of the property or of comic book movies.

Ryan McPartlin's my choice, Chris Evans seems a bit diminutive and doesn't quite look the part.. He's someone I'd take if his acting skills were off the charts to compensate, but he's really not that good.

I wonder if Alan Ritchson can actually act. He's got the look but I don't know about the acting. I've only seen him as a dumb jock in Blue Mountain State, great at comedy in that, and a dumb surfer type as Aquaman on Smallville. That may be his entire range.

I've not seen Supernatural but hated Jensen Ackles on Smallville.

Well, the producers didn't think enough of him to carry a show on his own. When they shot the pilot for Aquaman they used the guy who's playing Green Lantern on Smallville.

Yeah, they said Mercy Reef wasn't a spin off of the Smallville Aquaman but that may have just been politely saving face for the actor.

He's great on Blue Mountain State but that may just be a case of perfect for the role, like Stallone for Rocky.

I guess they didn't think enough of Justin Hartley to let him carry a show either.

I could see that. I like Ackles... he could buff up for the role and I believe he's versatile enough.

That's probably right. That's what they did with Sam Jackson. But you've got to remember, that doesn't mean nine separate Captain American films, it just means the same actor would show up in crossovers (big or small) whether it's The Avengers, Iron Man 3 or whatever. That's exactly how it's working for Sam Jackson as I understand it.
