The new Captain America??

Well said man, well said. :thumbsup

In one last effort to at least better voice my opinion - Much like superhero costumes it is not always about realism it is about representing the look the character had in the source material that the film is based on.
Without debating if it was right or wrong most Traditional Superheroes have been drawn over the years a certain way. The males looking with medium class weightlifters (big but not too big to move much) and the females have large chests, unrealistically small waists and they all are perfectly handsome.

We are dealing with people and powers that do not exist in the real world, it is fantasy they are trying to ground in reality just a little bit. As such I want the best representation of what I have seen drawn for the last 70 years both in terms of costumes as well as appearance. Chris is not bad, but he needs to be bigger for me to think that is a great match.

** As a side note after more consideration I was thinking I wish they could use Mark Valley (who could also use a little more bulk for the role) in his case because his age makes him a better fit with the actors they cast as Iron Man and Hulk. I would prefer that they (especially those three) were all similar ages.

But then again I am sitting at home not making the film so I can't complain - I will just sit back, hope they do a good job and enjoy the flick.

Touche. This is why I don't buy comics anymore. Also: upwards of $3 an issue made my habit unsustainable with a wife and kids.

Yeah, I gave up on regular issue purchases from the major labels in 1992 when there were 15 different X-titles to keep track of, all with interwoven storylines. At the time, i didn't have the money to regularly buy all of them. I feel the same about all the major brand "cross-title" stories, too.

Fortunately, thanks to the miracle of trade paperbacks, I can still get the stories eventually. :)

Very good point, KA. I don't expect a literal page-to-screen translation, but the screen version really has to closely resemble the page version, at least in spirit. Iron Man's armor in the new films, for example, wasn't what I expected, but it worked and the story held up well enough as an origin tale. Same with Batman Begins and Spiderman 1. But again, the key issue there was that the costume/look of the heroes was close enough to the spirit of the comics, and the stories were great.

By contrast, I think the costume from Daredevil was pretty good, and Ben Affleck probably COULD have been a great Daredevil/Matt Murdock....if he'd had a halfway decent script. Likewise, while she isn't Greek, I felt Jennifer Garner had a good look for Elektra, but MAN was that movie bad.

And besides, the Xmen in their first movie looked like motocross racers, but the first two films were really well done, I felt. Again, they stayed true to the spirit of the original material, even if it wasn't a literal translation.

You can't really get a literal translation with a live-action film. If you want that, watch the various animated films.

Don't know if it was posted in here, but the official role goes to Chris Evans of the Fantastic Four Movies. He will be Captain America.

Yeah, imagine having a good actor in it!?

He might be a good actor... admittedly, he hasn't been in much that I've seen. But...

a. He doesn't look the part.
b. He's kinda old for the part.
c. I'm not a fan of Alex Ross, and really don't trust his judgement.

Not trying to be a jerk, just my two cents.

I have the exact opposite opinion on every point:lol

but that is OK, to each their own - doesn't matter anyway, the part is cast.:rolleyes
