The Mandalorian (TV series)

So, I was watching Revenge of the Sith and i saw a scene that sort of blew my mind and made me think..or overthink, time will tell but here goes:
View attachment 1397622 and it reminded me of this: View attachment 1397623 and then i got to thinking...
What if Grogu is a Palpatine, too?! He's Rey's cousin!

Rather than deepfaking or using Stan as a replacement for Luke, I dont know why they didn't have him starting to grow a beard. It could have hidden a lot of the de-aging flaws.

Lol, i wasn't trying to say he is palpatine and especially not Reys cousin...i was implying that he could go Dark or maybe (if palpatine is still alive as displayed by Rise of Skywalker,) that he is behind this whole thing to try to get to Luke. Just a thought...it just made me think of tge ultimate twist in Star Wars since Luke and Vader. I mean, lets lure everyone in with Awe, hes so cute hes Mandos adopted child who he loves then pull the carpet under everyones feet..lol.

I think the value of having Mark on screen would definitely have outweighed any weirdness from accommodations like that. He looked good in TLJ when he’s on Crait, it shouldn’t be too much of a leap to smooth him out a bit more with that kind of look. I feel like Luke’s appearance in Mando is played like a cartoon who never changes looks so that the lowest common denominator recognizes him, which is a little untrusting of the audience.

They’ve been doing that with all the characters for years, EU or otherwise, it annoys me

Right. With a few exceptions in SW art or book covers, Luke ALWAYS wears his ROTJ outfit. I've said it before, but it bears repeating that Lucasfilm seems to stereotype characters/aliens/vehicles/etc. What I mean is they will have the characters wearing the same outfits, certain aliens will always being playing the part they played in the movies (all Rodians, Trandoshan, and to some extent Mandalorians are bounty hunters, all Gran/Weequay work for criminals, all Twilek females are dancers, etc.), and then in the books pirates all use Ugly fighters, Hutts all use the same skiffs and sailbarge the Jabba did, etc.

It makes me wonder how much of it was done that way to smooth out whatever approval process existed for the old EU. Cant really ruffle feathers if you have movie canon examples that correspond to your writing. Nobody wants to be the guy that draws a wicked new look for a character only to have it rejected. Makes me think of how the Clone Wars era was untouchable for most of the writers because George said so.

And what's amazing is how many viewers actually didn't recognize Luke at all until the last moment when he took the hood off. None of the blatantly lingering shots on his outfit tipped them off. I'm afraid this contingent of the audience is rather sizable. (Some may be folks who have otherwise never seen SW.)

Same, lol; my friends and I often joked about what a nuisance that black glove was post-ROTJ, since it would have been logical for him to get the prosthetic fixed after the film and thus there'd be no reason for him to keep wearing it unless he decided to for some psychological reason.

Yeah, it wouldn't be difficult or far-fetched to design a new costume blending part of his last outfit - say, the black mandarin-collar tunic - with different pants and vest, etc. Heck, there's enough old unused designs from the OT somebody could yank out of the archives and remix. I kind of like the pleated tunic he was wearing in the TROS flashback of training Leia.

Or I vote for bringing back the man cleavage. :p

I don't think people didn't think it was Luke. I think they were expecting that they were setting up a switcheroo - you think it's luke and then right when you expect the payoff, it's a new guy you never heard of...'Hi, i'm Fred Johnson, Jedi Knight, i've come to train the little guy'.

On topic, but off topic...I have grown so tired of all the “There is a Battle For the Soul of Star Wars at Lucasfilm” mythical stories that are being floated.

Please...”the forces of good, led by The Mandalorian production team (aka The Super Star Wars Friends) are battling the forces of evil led by Kathy Kennedy (aka Lex Luthor) and her High Republic squad (aka The Legion of Doom)”.

All of these stories come with the usual “our/my unverified and unnamed sources tell me...” and “take this with a grain of salt...” preambles.

These “Challenge of The Super Star Wars Friends” tales are just click-bate fodder.

You're gonna make Mike Zeroh cry.

I think there is a really simple answer to having characters wearing the same outfits for years. It's easier for a general audience to recognize a character if they always wear the same thing. It sounds stupid but it's likely the most obvious answer.

When are they announcing the Fred Johnson: Jedi Knight spin off???? I need this in my life.....

I want him to have a thick Wisconsin accent and talk about driving routes for hours on end while drinking cup after cup of coffee.

I believe that Luke’s closet must look similar to Charlie Brown’s....
