Someone mentioned what the rechargeable battery solution could look like. I've been using these adapters in my flashlights for years: 3xAA to D Adapter. Using 6x Ikea LADDA 2450mAh, they tend to last quite a while and have a great shelf life.

I know that the costume designer confirmed Joel's jeans were Levi's 505's. Are we thinking that they are a "Dark Wash" version? They look like a deeper blue, that's then been weathered.
I bought a pair of 505s, in the Flying bird wash. I wear a 34x30 normally, and these things are huge in the legs, and way too long.

Does anyone have confirmation that Cynthia actually got these tailored and hemmed to Pedro's size?

I'd want to take it to a tailor to get it taken in a little and get it hemmed, but rather return and get a different size if needed lol.

I feel like I could fit 2 legs per leg in these lol.

If you can get a pair of 511s in the same or similar color, then I find them to be a lot better fitting (Slimmer through the legs and ankle). Otherwise there are the 513s which are slimmer in the leg, but have a wider ankle opening.

Found online, but 511s on top of 505s:

Honestly the Flying bird wash I got has this certain feel to it. I honestly don’t know how my pair was stored: they have a smell to them, and feel worn and dirty - like they are maybe moldy? The back Levi’s tag is crumbled - these are brand new lol. Other than the fact that these are larger size than I’m used to in 34x30s, these feel apocalyptic lol.

The color of the flying bird has a nice look to it and looks really close to the version Pedro wears. Give ‘em a look. Might want to get a size down in inseam from what you’re normally used to (or maybe I got a bad pair - it does happen with Levi’s; it’s not unheard of). Or a tailor if they are too big.

I ended up finding some used 505's advertised as "Dark Wash" on Poshmark for cheap. I'm going to try these first and see if they are close enough. If not...I'll give the Flying Bird wash a try. There are TONS of cheap 505's on Posh.

This is a cool thread. I've been dressing like Joel since forever, so characters like him are a nice reference.

That said, where is everyone finding the Fjallraven shirt? I can't find it anywhere in their online catalogue.

I got mine from MooseJaw...but it looks like they're suddenly sold out. I guess the word is out!

Here are a couple other links I found:

My Joel kit is slowly coming together. I got my Fjallglim shirt yesterday. I also got the undershirt and I think it really looks the part! The Heather Oatmeal color already make the shirt look like it has some age. Some additional weathering will will make it look pretty authentic.

Are you going to weather your Flint and Tinder jacket?

I think Cynthia said they stripped the wax from the jacket and aged/dyed it.

I'm not sure yet. I REALLY like the jacket as an every day jacket. Much like my Musterbrand ESB Luke jacket, I think I'm going to just wear it and the eventual wear and tear will be weathering enough. Over time, the wax will wear, as will the cuffs and waist. We'll see... ;)

Does anybody have more reference photos of the flashlight?

Mine came in today, so I'm starting to mark where I need to weather the paint down.

I think the rubber button is missing - removed on mine. For screen accuracy, it looks removed. For practicality, this thing is going to get wet and then ruined lol. Surprised he didn't use some tape to cover that up, especially in an apocalypse.

I got 2 pairs of the Fjallraven shirt in Medium.
Got a 3rd in XXXL, and I sent it to a costume designer here in LA.
She's gonna tear into it and create pockets etc.

If you guys need reference, I have some marked up photos:

I got the amber lens and the military flashlight today.

Now I need some ultra fine grit sandpaper to start weathering.

Oof, that looks so good. So question, how was the fitting of the clip? Is the part that touches the flashlight flush? Would you say that this is more than likely the right clip?
So, on the flashlight I got, the clip was flat. I took a little time bending it slightly so that it wouldn't jut out too much. I attached it with pop rivets and did one at a time, so it ended up slightly wonky. I might try to re-affix it.

That all being said, I am not fully positive that this is the right clip. It is probably about 80% the right clip out of the box. I had to do a little bending to get it to look just right. The initial bend on mine was not a right angle, and in bending that up, I had to re-bend the the second bend. After that, it's pretty much spot on.

But I have yet to find anything else even close.

Here is a shot showing that mine doesn't sit very flush. One could argue that this is the reason for the gaffers tape. (Even if it were bent more)

Ah makes sense. I’d like to think that this was the clip, and the reason he used the tape to hold it. I might do JB weld though with the gaff.

I see you want the led route. Are you using rechargeable batteries?

Yeah, I replaced the incandescent with an LED. I am still debating on the rechargeable batteries. I haven't looked into the above adapters, but have looked at rechargeable D batteries. I know the problem with *them* are that they are only 1.2 volts each as opposed to the alkaline's 1.5 volts. They would still work, but I might not get as good performance out of them.

I haven’t got one of these maglites, but for me, the reason I keep using the D-cells is they give the flashlight a better weight in the hand. Of course, if I wanted a flashlight for practical purposes, lighter weight would be better, but still.
