The Hobbit - Weta Replicas / Collectibles - Launching Monday 1 OCtober

Beautiful stuff, but personally the copyright info kills it for me. It's like watching the Hobbit movie and suddenly seeing a truck in the background or something.

You could buy one of the Jens Hansen ones for about 10 times the price. I think it has a hallmark in it as well though.

It does. Basically the best replica in terms of shape and provenance but not that stupid hallmark. The problem with trying to get rid of it is permanently damaging the gold plating, or going all the way through it.

BTW, my order updated to "sent" but I have no idea when that happened or when it might arrive. Fingers still crossed for Friday at the latest.

That Weta coyright is stopping me from purchasing the Ring..Its a shame too

It's still stopping me too.

The Ring is meant to be free of any blemishes or marks (besides when tossed in a fire), yet this so blatantly disregards that integral aspect of it... such a shame since it seems to be a beautiful piece otherwise. Hoping an option will be provided to order one without the mark.

Actually its only 4 times the price and there is an option to have no hallmarks, that's how I ordered mine. You can can also get the chain cheaper directly through Jen as well.

If you're talking about the 18 CT gold one, that is over 30 times the price and they're all Jens Hansen.

Yeah, for me - I'll take my $100 Ring with the hallmark and just display it so the mark doesn't show.

Anyone know of a solvent to get the hallmark off, by the way?

The cheapest version I found was a sterling silver with 18ct gold plating and it was just about $400. Not sure if they offer that anymore. I figured if I wasn't gonna wear it and only use it for display that would be fine.

I really wish I had the money to go for the more expensive one, but once again it was only for display and I wanted an authentic Jens Hansen version.

Ahhh, okay, cool. I am thinking about getting the chain soon.

Anyone with the tungsten carbide can you confirm if the hallmark is engraved or simply printed on.

I own the inscribed tungsten One Ring and I'm unsure of the logos being engraved or printed, but it's safe to say I'm not gonna risk putting solvent on it to get it off. The way I see it, the Jens Hansen logo makes it all the more "official" which is what I like about the ring.

Official is not an issue, we all know it is. Accuracy IS an issue.

Looked at it under a microscope last night; it is, unfortunately, engraved. My mistake, but now we know. It is definitely engraved - I could see the laser scribe lines in the tungsten.
