The Definitive Peter Quill/Star-Lord Costume Thread

Does anyone have a good image of Starlord long coat with the valve on the back? I don't mean the Hot Toys images but one from the movie or stills. Unfortunately the beginning of the movie is very dark so you don't get a good shot at it. I'm checking some of the B Reels too. Thanks!

Also check for photos of his visits to hospitals, he's worn the long coat a few times.

Another new pair of pants from ebay.

Ebay Listing: Guardians of The Galaxy Star Lord Peter Quill Cosplay Pants Size L Black Color

About $20 bucks cheaper than the 2nd gen pants. Missing the leather "pockets" and the button on the flap on the front of the thigh.

Shouldn't be leather on the pants at all.

That's a comparison of features between the ebay pants. Not a list of accuracy or what I think is accurate.

What I call the 2nd gen pants come with imitation leather "pockets". The newest pants do not come with pockets at all.

Also, new vest on ebay.

Technically the holster pads are a permanent part of the pants, so they do have leather. Not leather pockets, though. Those are corduroy.

From where is it? I can't fine it on eBay...That's the vest I've been waiting for it! last piece! @ MrSouthpaw

Just copy-paste the ebay listing I posted or search ebay for star lord vest. It will be the first thing that pops up. Take a good look at the pics to make sure it's the right vest, there are some inferior models on ebay.

Also, the back is not accurate. It's solid leather instead of mesh. So you might want to look at this topic.....

It's an old study topic on the vest. I recommend looking at it so you are as fully informed on the vest as possible. You may even decide to just make your own instead. Or at least modify what you buy so that it has back mesh and some other small things to make it look more accurate.

We're going to start working on our version of the Star Lord Coat now... so, instead of browsing all 60+ pages of this thread, does anyone have a link to a good shots of the coat on display. Ironically, I seem to have a lot of good high-res images of close up details, but very little of the entire coat.

Thanks,
Magnoli

Hope these could help your project.

That's looking awesome, just a small note, the detailing on your mouth grill is a bit too deep.

Hey, have you sent that email?

By the way, I'm also attempting to make an accurate helmet. What would you say are the most important things that other people have missed?

Also, I'm in need of a pic directly from the side, without too much distortion.

Thanks. : )

The detailing isn't too deep actually- or it will not be in the end at any rate. I can't talk about how I know... just trust me on this one. All the panels lines in the print are also intentionally deep since they will be slightly filled in with filler-primer and such. I also left the slits optionally open to allow breathing.

Almost everyone gets the basic look right. They also get at least a couple of the details close. But when you start looking at the more subtle things... angles of each cheek plate in relation to the others, depth of the eye sockets , the very subtle shape and curves of the eyebrows nose bridge and "cheekbones" you start seeing a lot of things that don't add up. That's not surprising, since it's a very difficult helmet to model in the first place since it's hard to photograph without getting a lot of lens distortion. Most of the publicly available reference material was taken with cell phone cameras that have some extreme perspective shifts.

Thanks! Can you share any info about the subtle angles, depths, and curves? Or some better reference? That would be very helpful. One thing I'm not sure about is if the main gold panel surrounding the eyes is parallel to the mouth grill. (From a side view). Also, do the lower sides of the helmet (between the mouth grill and the ears) angle in at all?

I would appreciate any and all info.

There's little I can readily explain about the subtleties unless I have a baseline comparison. Even then it would be fairly time consuming to try and explain smaller differences. Not sure what you mean about the gold panel and parallel but the sides do angle and actually curve just a tad. It's very subtle...
