The Book of Boba Fett

Killing live-action Cad Bane seems like such a waste...and I'm not a fan of it...but he really needs to stay dead. I liked him and thought he added a lot but just leave him dead now. No more miraculous resurrections.
If you listen to the audio description track, which I believe is based off the shooting script, they very deliberately mention a flashing LED on Bane’s chest. So I think they have plans for him, but yeah, how are they going to talk around a gaffi stick straight to the chest?

I hope it won’t be something lame, like, “Duros physiology does not have any major organs located in the center of the chest, so Boba’s wound was not fatal, and the little LED thingy was something to make Bane appear dead.” And then we see Bane’s presumptively dead body in the Mos Espa morgue, only for the LED thingy to suddenly do its thing and Bane pops back to life and surreptitiously sneaks out of the morgue.

While I love Cad Bane and would love to see him as Boba’s “dark-mirror” arch-nemesis, and while I have to admit faking his death like that would be a pretty Bane-level crafty move, it’ll be a reach to come up with an explanation that won’t make me roll my eyes.

He had a great presence and chewed his scenes nicely (love the voice actor) but I also think it would undermine Fett's big moment (resorting to using his hard earned gaffi stick, not a blaster, to kill Bane) if Bane survives. I did think it was convenient he was carrying the stick during that fight, since I don't think he had before then, at least when wearing his armor. I just knew it was there for a reason. lol I'm not sure what Bane's blaster was doing to stagger him like it was but I wondered why he didn't just used his jetpack to get out of the way when Bane had him down.

Incidentally, I was surprised Bane was not the one to kill Fett's tribe and would've far rather seen an uprising of Tuskens to save the day in Fett's hour of need. The Freetown peasant folk seem like such an odd choice. They didn't even really do that much to take out the Krayt as I recall, but even if they did, fighting a gang war is a totally different animal.

Seems Grogu needs no training? That becoming powerful with the Force is what his species comes natural to.
Luke saying.. it's like he is remembering rather than being taught. That it's instinct. "....act on instinct"
That he doesn't need a master to teach him and that not learning from Luke isn't a detriment to his advancing with
his powers? Seems that is the way too. I think Luke just showed him there isn't a limit to what he can do in time.

Oh, and since everyone gets a show now...

Can we PLEASE have Lando and Lobot: A Star Wars story of Facility Administration ?????

I mean really dig in to labor disputes man, bore the hell out of action fans!

I want the nuts and bolts of running a Tibanna gas mine!
Supply chain issues! What could be more relevant a topic these days?

You mean, like Abrams and Terrio pulling Palpatine out of their ass for TROS after Vader’s sacrifice in ROTJ?

I really hated to see Cad Bane get it. I’ve always liked him in the animated series and was thrilled he made the jump to live-action. While I hope he’s not dead, I also don’t like dead people coming back. I would have preferred an end credit scene where Bane’s body can’t be found. I kind of wonder if Bane’s vest has bacta injectables in it or something.

A personal thing, but cyborgs creep me out. The guy with the robotic eye I find especially unsettling. Was hoping the Mods would all get it, but of course they didn’t. Then that end credit scene with the modder! Not how I wanted to end this series. Maybe Cobb will have a robotic arm like Luke’s hand and we won’t ever have to see it if he returns in one of these series.

Did I like the episode? It was so/so. Did I like the series? It was so/so. The train hijack scene from Episode 2, Mando stuff from Episode 5, and seeing Luke again in Episode 6 were the highlights for me of this series. A lot of the props and costumes were really cool.

Yeah I couldn't believe not even one of those stupid Mods kicked the bucket.

As mentioned before, I also think it's silly Fett didn't just grab Slave I and blast away. I know they make a big thing about the droid shields but there's no way the shields would be impervious to just everything. Handheld blasters and the cannons mounted on a gunship are different things altogether. Even the droidekas in TPM were easily dispatched by little Ani's wizard blaster cannons on his ship. The reality is the droids were protected by poorly conceived plot armor that's more powerful than any shields. lol

The sense of geography was always super weird on the show as Mos Espa is nowhere close to the palace. No way a rancor would make it back that quickly...but Slave I could've.

So many points already raised I agree with but won't bother repeating, especially HMSwolfe's post #6,110.

One possibly new observation: Fennec saves the mods by surprise from a rooftop. Then she jumps down to her speeder bike, which she had parked RIGHT NEXT TO THEM AND IN LINE OF SIGHT (AND FIRE) BETWEEN THE MODS AND THE BAD GUYS without being seen!

Well there is apparently a Lando show in the works but absolutely nothing has been said about it. I'd say it's entirely possible Lobot could be in it too! Lol!

That’s when I started getting really ticked with the episode. Like they didn’t even try to hide the stupidity

Maybe he had the Rancor hold on to the outside of his Firespray and he flew slow-and-low back over to Mos Espa.
Makes just as much sense as anything! I still don't get why they decided to center everything around Mos Espa. They act like it's a hop and skip away from the palace which it isn't at all unless I'm looking at the wrong maps. Kinda like Mando somehow instantly racing through Beggar's Canyon and the Mos Espa podracer course from Mos Eisley? Granted his ship is fast but still...free and loose with geography. To me the events would've been more significant if things had been centered around the capitol of Tatooine, Bestine or whatever the current canon says.

This was one of my early beefs, but I now see why the Twins were (rather lackluster) CGI. They were barely in the show. Super disappointing as I'd been waiting to see Hutts again in live-action (and frankly like them way more than the stupid looking Pykes), but I can see it would not have been worth the effort and expense making giant 15-ft puppets for as little as they wound up being in the show. The CGI Hutts served whatever little purpose they had.

Also I read this observation online which I found interesting. Fett makes the comment that "maybe we're not cut out for this". Fennec says "if not us, then who?" and then they pass the melon or whatever to Krrsantan and the Mods. Combined with the scene of Vanth at the end, are we to assume Fett is actually moving on and leaving them in charge? After all that trouble, Vanth and the others will take it from here now that the yoke of the drugrunners is lifted? If that means season 2 could be Fett travelling the galaxy and going back to older ways, I could be more on board. Bring on some course correction! However, it does seem a little silly after all this trouble, he's like "eh, I changed my mind. byyyyyye".

It kinda felt like they were setting up that idea of Boba passing the baton, but I don’t know how I feel about that. Kinda just cements the idea that the main arc of the season didn’t really matter.

It definitely seems weird, if that's really what they were implying. Otherwise not actually sure what Fett is gonna do if he doesn't want to hunt bounties and "work for idiots" any more. Become a galactic Robin Hood? Lone Ranger...of the New Republic? Wha, wha, whaaaat?
