The Book of Boba Fett

So, why did Fett go back to his palace and bring back Rodney the Rancor instead of jumping in Slave 1 (yeah, I said it) fly back and blow the droids to bits with the blaster canons.

They set up why. Remember the conversation after they tried using the Darksaber. Something to the effect that energy weapons could not impact the shields and that the melee weapons did not have enough force. So they basically needed something that was not an energy weapon but just brute force… enter the rancor.

there is noting i hate more then bringing a character... or characters in to throw them away the next episodes... why even waste the money on the twins... oh wait we needed the huts to deliver the rancor... no wait why couldn't bid just have the rancor already?! ...
I felt like there were a lot of wasted characters and talent in this show. And when you cast good people in these rolls we assume that they’ll have a significant impact on the story, which adds to the let down when you never see them again, or they die an episode later.

This is just my opinion, and I'm truly glad for those that really dug this show, but I really think everyone should be holding this franchise to a higher standard. It's felt like just about every other Disney Star Wars project is a huge misfire. I'm so tired of this "it’s a privilege to get any new Star Wars at all” mentality. It's constantly used as an excuse for Disney to continue making things that genuinely aren't that great.

I love Star Wars and will never be able to walk away from it. It's a part of my identity. And yeah, I'd much rather have more new Star Wars than no new Star Wars. But if most of the new stuff isn't going to be good, than I'd prefer no new Star Wars at all haha.

The Mandalorian has been my favorite thing from the Disney era, hands down. I love it. I love the characters, the story, the props, etc. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that TBOBF has tainted my excitement for season 3. Chapter 5 had me beyond hyped, but this finale left me feeling apathetic, and I hate feeling that way. This show definitely seems like it was rushed, so that begs the question...why even release it then, if it's not that good? We don't need Star Wars as frequently as they're churning things out now. If it's not killer, then don't force it out.

Its a goddamn tragedy isnt it? Like when i watch other good well written, well made, well executed stories with preexisting characters made by other outlets.. and then i look back at this, it’s not just bad..

It’s insulting

Exactly. They can do better, they’ve proven that. Which makes things like this feel worse.
I don’t understand how RR episodes can feel so cheaply made…
Right?!

No bossk either what a shame.. they made the transdoshans

Matter of fact a year ago maybe? I had a feeling bossk was showing up because I know a guy who was working on “bossk masks” for production..

come to find out I guess it wasn’t bossk just a ton of Trandoshans in BoBF..

I appreciate everything you said, but I try to temper my feelings with two facts:

1.) My standards for this show were impossibly high; and

2.) The show is not written for us super-nerds.

Does that excuse thin characterizarion of the leads, wasted side characters and poor/rushed pacing? Absolutely not. This series could have been a lot better.

And I know they need to keep churning out fresh content for D+ in order to keep subscribers, but I totally agree with you that they need to focus less on quantity and more on quality.

But it’s like when you see a child fail at something, instead of telling them they’re crap, you just want to encourage them to learn from their mistake and do better because you know they are capable of it.

Just like I know Disney is capable of a “Rogue One” and a CW S7, I hope I can see them recover from their stumbles and make an awesome BoBF S2.

2.) The show is not written for us super-nerds.
I actually feel this was one of the reasons this show wasn’t good, because I feel the Favreau and Filoni shows are becoming increasingly exclusive in their audience through the inclusion of niche content. Like Krstnantnan or however you spell his name attacking the Trandoshans unprovoked. Reminds me of Maul showing up at the end of Solo and people being incredibly confused. I think these shows are written and directed at an increasingly smaller audience.

Henceforth, whenever the words “awesome, bad a$$ biker gang” are uttered, this shall be the image that comes into your mind’s eye…

I think they pepper some of that stuff in for our benefit, to get things buzzing on social media. I don’t think adding that niche stuff was what hurt this show.

This show, on the whole, is written for a mass audience. Not just for the people with years of BF head-canon who say things like “Boba would never do that,” or fret over “Why does Boba talk to BK like he’s a noob?” or “Why do the Pykes on Tatooine look different than the Pykes on Kessel?”

In other words, not just for people like me. ;)

The post credit scene with Vanth in the bacta tank also doesn't make sense having the mod guy there. Vanth was shot below the clavicle with a blaster. So of course he needs to have his arm removed, and half his face, maybe a foot and 1/2 a pec.
seems he’s always around for elective procedures some would consider…unnatural

i always feel bad for the actors an actresses involved in this stuff.. i know i have stated serval times i dont like the vespa gang, but this isn't directed towards the actors or actresses in anyway. their characters just didn't feel right to me in this universe..

i always felt bad for Kelly Marie Tran with all the backlash she got, and i pray i get to meet her at a comic con one day to show the support for her..
i always think of poor

2.) The show is not written for us super-nerds.

To echo what HMSwolfe said, I also disagree with this to an extent. Chapter 6 especially stands out in my mind as being written exclusively for super-nerds. It relies solely on cameos and the Cad Bane reveal, neither of which have much impact on the overall story in that episode. I've realized this is why I didn't feel as excited after it as I did with Chapter 5; it doesn't have any real meat. I watched it with my dad and brother, both very casual fans, and my dad fell asleep during the overly long training sequence and my brother felt very "meh" about the episode overall. He didn't get any excitement from seeing R2, Luke or Ahoska again, and had no idea who Cad Bane was and rolled his eyes at his dramatic entrance and the cliche western duel.

Even the Boba/Bane showdown in the finale fell completely flat in my opinion; there's nothing there. No history for casual fans (or super-nerds) to understand, and it feels like it was written with the assumption that super-nerds would love it just because of the fabled unfinished Clone Wars episode of their duel, which also lacks any context or real character development.

Idk how impossibly high your expectations were, but given it was the same creative team (plus Rodriguez), I think all of us expected the level of quality of The Mandalorian. Which I think it's safe to say most people feel is pretty solid. We know Disney is capable of producing good Star Wars, they've done it before. I know Star Was is a difficult franchise because of how many generations it has impacted, and by no means do I want to discourage Disney from making more. I'd genuinely love to see them learn from their mistakes and correct course. I have faith there is still amazing content on the horizon, I just hope they can decrease the amount of blunders going forward.
