I don’t understand the conjecture about the female Tusken being Fennec. Why does the female Tusken have to be anybody in particular?

One of the things I disliked most about TROS was the ****-canning of Johnson’s idea that Rey was nobody, and the next super-powerful Force-user could come from anywhere, not just from an existing bloodline. Kind of like “Ratatouille”’s theme of “not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.” I loved that, and it pissed me off that Abrams, Terrio and Kennedy wiped their ass with it.

Just let a great character be a great character in and of themselves. Every new character doesn’t have to be a callback or a connection to a previous character, y’know?

This wouldn’t even be possible. She’s already a Bounty Hunter during the Tusken period we are watching. Are people thinking she’s undercover or something? Lol

Right? I guess maybe if she had too much heat on her, she could have gone underground by “going native,” similar to what Boba is doing right now. But that would really be lazy storytelling.

I see some comments online that people think we are all caught up now or that we only have a few flashbacks left. I think they may go on all season. The Tusken story is the emotional core of the show so far so I can see it continuing and converging with the main story at a key point.

Agreed. I highly doubt Boba gets his robes and then nothing interesting happens to him for the next four years. Clearly, some bad blood developed between him and Bib in the meantime.

Weird. It never occurred to me that this wasn't a woman. I just assumed that with the noticeably shorter stature, slighter build, and loose headwraps resembling long hair, this was supposed to be a female Tusken. Funny how two SW nerds can see the exact same thing and walk away with two different impressions.

The fact that female Tuskans had a different design in the prequels, does muddy the waters. Fortunately we have different tribes with different practices, so no canon conflict.

That’s true. But the Tusken kids had a different design in AOTC, too. I’m not saying I immediately knew these were kinder, gentler, more “enlightened” Tuskens, but the black robes and the fact that the kids were dressed differently than the AOTC kids made me think something was up.

i wonder if they keep having him remove his helmet so the audience can connect with him emotionally

this is my problem with mando... you dont see his face, his voice is always mello.. i have no connection with him what so ever.. i cant build any kind of relationship because he's just "blah"

i know i complain about mando, but idk what it is about vader but im totally cool with him. i dont get it.. basically kind of the same situation.. idk..

i was also wondering with morrison basically told them, ill come back but i want more time out of the helmet..

idk.. i feel like others have stated here that his out of the helmet a lot.. and that really isn't his "character"

maybe from living with the Tuskens he's grown to feel more comfortable with out it? idk..

i do feel this is a production move.. weather to have the audience connect with him.. (which they could do in flashbacks with out the helmet on) or its actually morrison himself..

These are some great thoughts...think about what we are all experiencing in life right now...maybe a lack of closeness, caring, empathy, compassion...behind the mask of this forum are real human beings who have been through it, yet we all need connection. Maybe we look too hard for answers in the writing/ production when the answers lie in the audience.

Interesting...i connected to Mando immediately. I felt the connection with his mask on. I could feel everything that he was going through and dont forget his flashbacks to his childhood. Maybe because i can relate to that character. Some put on the mask because they've been hurt and are afraid to open up again...maybe the mask stays on because so many have laid expectations on their shoulders and if it comes off then you might appear weak.

2 series back to back dealing with masks..Mando stays on most of the time
Boba's is off...Both looking back on their life, events of their upbringing. Great stuff to think about...and don't forget the Tuskens!!

Given how the Pykes assumed this (relatively) peaceful tribe were a bunch of marauders, and they (Pykes) were shooting to kill when completely unprovoked, I am betting that the idea is that the offworlders are highly prejudiced, thinking all Tuskens are murderous “raiders.”

I always thought "sandpeople" was more "politically correct" and Tusken Raider was a term given to them. In the EU it was a name given to them decades earlier after they brutally attacked Fort Tusken and the name stuck within some circles. Not sure what the current canon is.

Boba referred to them as “Tuskens” when talking to the Pykes. I suppose he could have been using a pejorative name assigned by offworlders because it’s what the Pykes know, but I think Boba, out of respect, would use the name (or the closest approximation in Basic) that these people use for themselves.

Maybe that’s what “tusken” means - “after the waters dried up” or something. Maybe?

Listen - after spider-legs Maul and Meebur Gascon, there’s clearly no such thing as a “too-stupid” idea in the SW universe.

That's the funny thing. Even though this tribe is said not to be one of the ones that survives by killing, they still maintain their fighting skills at a high level and are ready to RESPOND to violence if provoked. Kind of like Chinese monks who have chosen to be peaceful by nature, but have high-level fighting skills.
