The Book of Boba Fett

I haven’t read much of this thread...but seriously, can anyone tell me why I’m supposed to care about this show, or whatever story this is that they’re trying to tell?

I don’t think the show is bad, per say...it’s just not very engaging to me. Like, I’m struggling to figure out if anything I’m watching is going anywhere at all?

I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan in the universe, and I have very little knowledge of “extended” canon...so am I missing something by not knowing everything about this character?

OK...my creative, over thinking mind has caused yet another thought....

If we know Boba is transitioning from bad guy Bounty hunter to becoming a "good guy" by becoming a crime lord in order to bring the whole house down and is having a rebirth....what are the chances that by the end of the show we see Boba look like this: (forgive me if someone else in the feed said this and i missed it)-

You’re not alone, my friend!

didn't the B'omarr monks initiate Bib Fortuna and Jabbas palace was formerly theirs?
I'd have to check Wookiepedia, but I believe that the palace indeed used to be their monastery, but once they transferred their brains into those jars, they were really no longer interested in the "physical world," and they basically did not care when Jabba came in and took the place over.

I’d say anything is possible although I’m not sure I really see it happening.

Well then I blame Favreau and Rodriguez (since he’s the show runner). But I also don’t think Mando is a slam dunk 10/10 like some people do, so he’s far from infallible in my book.
I agree. A lot of the problems of BOBF can be found in The Mandalorian, too. And Favs is the one guy who has all ten of their fingerprints on both series.

I like JF a lot. I believe he's a true fan, and is working hard to make great shows. But TCW convinced me that Filoni is the true spiritual torch-bearer of this IP.

I don’t love Filoni either but I do think Favreau/Filoni complement each other fairly well. I do think they care even if do they miss the mark on some things. I do think there’s a labor of love involved that isn’t present with a lot of the Disney-era, committee borne projects.

Boba:
“Boba?… Yes... that was what they used to call me. Boba Fett.. That was my name.

Gimli:
“Boba...”

Boba:
“*I* am Boba the White. And I come back to you now - at the turn of the tide.”

I usually joke about the idea of doing this at cons in a Super Trooper outfit just to be silly as him getting out of the Sarlacc
The whole “but you fell..” thing is perfect for the parody
Someone good at quick video editing please super impose the SuperTrooper helmet over that LOTR clip with crappy Tem dub clipped over Gandalf please

So I'm looking in other sites about the show, & several are saying they feel the rancor & Machete are Trojan horses. That it's really loyal to him & not Boba. It was mentioned here before, but I really didn't get that. Am I in the minority here?

I kept getting sinister vibes off of the scene, but I think it may just have been poor staging/directing. Like, Trejo raises his pike-spear-thing, then they cut to Boba from a 3/4 rear angle, then there's some other angles then a wide where Trejo has his pike down again. The initial cuts create the impression that Trejo is about to stab Boba, but then the later shots are like, oh, no, it was just bad editing. The entire scene was like that.

I have no idea if it was intentional or not.

Apparently that B'omarr monk shot was stop motion... funny because it looked like bad cg :oops:

I think ive just accepted that this is a show about a different guy than the one in the OT.

Boba hasn't been "OT Boba" since 2002. Once George decided to have a major plot point of Attack of the Clones be Jango Fett as the template for the Clone army with his own unaltered Clone heir, Boba, everything we thought we knew about Boba was thrown out the window and suddenly the vast majority of EU stores about him that informed so many fan's perspective were on shaky ground at best if not out right retconned away by the change. Suddenly Boba had a whole lot of emotional baggage and turmoil added to his character due to his close, loving relationship with his "Dad" and had to suffer the devastation of watching him brutally beheaded by Mace Windu all while men wearing his dad's face that he had grown up around for the past 10 years were suddenly helping and aiding the same Man who just killed His dad and their own template! Talk about a Mind blowing series of events that totally re-textualize the character.

So, I think this is excellent advice. Once people let go of their expectations and wants and realize that this show isn't going to be about "OT Boba" but is in fact going to be about the Boba who is influenced by AotC and CW Show, they might be more willing to go along with some aspects.

I understand people's dislike of the "Vespa" style Swoops, or the costumes of the the Swoop gang, all as being too clean for Tatooine, but other stuff, like staying with the Tuskens, perhaps doing all of this as payback for their treatment or to prevent it from ever happening again, might make more sense when looked at through the lens of the young boy who was suddenly Orphaned finds that the people who took him where killed, including the young child he had be-friended.

I'm not going to change anyone's minds, I know, but, for me looking at this as the Boba from the CW and AotC, not the complete mystery blank slate OT Boba, it can work, and it's not over yet. We have over half the series to go.

I think they already dipped into that pre-pro white armor with the Imperial SuperCommandos in "Rebels"?

By the end of BOBF we will all sit back..breathe a sigh of relief and marvel at all that those crazy twists and turns. The suprise characters we love who literally chewed up the scenery and propelled it towards its climatic cliffhanger!

Brian Cox I says there are limitless multiverses...In one of those this might Actually happen.

I hope its in Ours...
