I tried getting my son into those Pumped up action figures of the mid 90s he had Vaders Tie Fighter Slave 1 a slew of OG figures his nan took him to Eurodisney where he got a few Droids figures too but even the prequel characters never really hooked him back then..not sure why as he watched my vhs then DVDs later on. The promise of GL making a TV show was in the air for many a year..Wait a minute....i realize the intitial problem with predicting a hot toy in '77 when...Lucas himself didn't even know how successful the movie was gonna be but out of his own mouth he said the TOYS are where the money is...SO, from 1983 ROTJ til 1999 TPM there wasn't a Star Wars movie and with Lucas involved there were plenty of toys for kids dealing with those movies...fast forward to 2015 TFA, the last movie before that was 2005 ROTS...10 years!!! They had 10yrs (obviously Lucas sold to Disney, still having plenty of time) and 32 YEARS since the original cast was in a Star Wars movie and they didn't have enough time to prepare or predict that the toys would be a big draw?....i'm not buying that excuse.
With the preparation of the first live action Star Wars TV show in HISTORY (Mandalorian) they didn't know it would be huge? not buying it
(Still no Mudhorn figure lol...i'm gonna beat this drum til it breaks..lol, my kid really wants one**his favorite episode and it's his insignia for crying out loud)
With the success and popularity of the Mandalorian they didn't think to make a lot of toys for TBOB?(i realize that plot reveals through toys is an issue)
Seriously, you're watching it on a projector? or are you trying to say i'm really old school?lol...you'd be right.haha
I agree...No way, that dent is classic Boba fett
Completely agree.I’m a sucker for the setting, so I enjoying seeing a lot of ideas I wouldn’t normally watch in a movie but will in this setting.
Agreed...and Indiana Jones...and Back to the Future...superb!!Really liked both episodes, but I think you have to go in understanding that these stories are going to be very familiar to anyone who's seen films over the last 30-40 years. That's a beautiful thing to me, because it's continues the original idea of bringing myths & stories that have been told for centuries to a new audience by reframing it in a space fantasy setting.
This episode to me was Seven Samurai, Dances With Wolves, Last Samurai, & Star Wars, all mishmashed together to tell a very familiar story, & as I said after episode 1, I'm here for it.
One scene really choked me up...lolI actually got goosebumps at multiple points in the episode, especially the last scene.
Yes!!! right after it ended my son was jumping for joy, ran in, got his Boba Fett figure and added a certain "weapon" in his hand...lol...he's still playing. All i saw was the magic in his eye's that we experienced as kids watching the OT. That episode brought it back and i experienced a great flashback myselfCompletely agree.
I called every beat of AVATAR with almost an eye roll, & I did the same thing this morning, but with a grin.
Also, I'm watching these with my grandson, so it's REALLY HARD to be cynical when he scoots closer & looks up with wide eyes, a big smile, & a point at the TV.
Matter of fact, here's my new policy for discussing any STAR WARS related content with anyone-
Them:"I found it to be unrealistic, with lazy writing, poor effects, stilted acting, boring settings, & a dirivitive plot. Plus, it interferes with my 30+ years of expectations."
Me:"Did you watch it with a child?"
Them:"No."
Me:"Then shut up. You've already missed the point."
LOL
