THE BETTY (Alien resurrection)

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Thanks guys. I have to say this cockpit has to be the hardest part of the whole ship.

Started fitting the cockpit under the cone. Had to hog out the foam and slowly fit it up there.

You had to slowly fit your hog up into the foam?!?!? WHAT!?!?! :eek

Dude, This is a modeling forum. I'm not even going to go in to the whole "cockpit being the hardest part" thing. :sick

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Ya thats a tough integration for sure!!
You just have to keep tweaking and fitting,
looks like your close?:thumbsup

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Very, very, very nice work! Outstanding! The Betty was one of my favorite ships of all time (too bad the movie was only so- so!)

Great model, keep the pics coming!

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Great work! Excited for more. Your technique: carved foam, with bondo, then primed? Do you clad styrene over that? Do you use CA to bond styrene to the surface?

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Thanks everyone.

Bondo fett. thats exactly what i do. i lightly scuff the surface with 400 and use CA to bond the styrene to the primer. works great.

Do you use an automotive type primer? Urethane or Poly? I'm inspired to use your methods on a build I'm planning: Cobb concept Nostromo. Been stuck on my approach until I saw your build and then it was "Eureka!".

I use Dupli color sand able primer. and also PPG high build primer for larger jobs. this process will work perfect for that model. look forward to seeing it.

Re: Alien Resurrection. (the Betty)

Thanks Katsu.

been a while. been taking my time on the cockpit to get it just right. started on the window moldings, needs a little more filler then i can add the plates and scribe the panel lines. then i will move on to the scorpion tail.

Thanks for looking.
