The Batman costume research and found parts ID

Got a backpack possibility for you guys. This was posted on Reddit within the past hour, with the author saying he found the screen accurate backpack:

From what I can tell, the details do match up, but I'm not 100% sure, so I'm offering it up to RPF scrutiny. I'm no longer interested in doing this costume myself (it's getting too expensive for me), so if this is it, here you guys go!

At first I thought these were just rivets holding the belt segments together, but I think they are the button snaps that hold the belt in place against the jacket. There seem to be a few places around the waist that have snaps for the belt.
i think its both. i think the belt has rivets to keep the buckle attached but maybe there are also buttons on the belt that snap onto the buttons on the suit.

I wish I could watch it, but it's not available to watch in Canada for some reason.

Here's a few observations:

I don't recognize all of the gear here, but I do see a pair of a pair of folding handcuffs in the back and some zip cuffs in the front. Maybe the hand cuffs were used for Penguin's hands and the zip cuffs for his legs.

This shot shows two contact lens docks for the Batcomputer/laptop (odd choice to put in the lineup), the flashlight he uses in the orphanage and Riddler's apartment (unfortunately mostly out of view), a fabric something (maybe the bag for Penguin's head), and some kind of belt holder I don't recognize. Also interesting is that the snap on the belt's flashlight/baton holder looks to be silver here, instead of black like on the suit that were displayed in the London, and Tokyo:

You can also see a remnant of the tab on the Protec pouch and clearly see the difference in texture between the fabric flare holder and leather UV light holder on the back of the belt, as well as the way the belt connects to itself at the back of the suit.

A case with circuit board-looking things in it that I can't remember. Maybe it's for the contact lenses he gives to Selina, but they don't show him taking them out of anything in the movie. I wonder if that and the case for the earpiece are supposed to be kept in the double speedloader pouch.

This shot gives us a great close-up of the Fidlock female Snap fasteners for the chest piece or cape (might be better for the cape, based on the way they're facing). Weirdly, some of the finer details don't seem to perfectly match, but I still think they used article number 05450-000002(BLK): "SNAP female S sewable":

There's also some straps running underneath the neck armor that I don't think we've seen before. It looks like the strap on the left attaches to the velcro on the front of the chest. Maybe these straps are also connected to the straps on the back we've seen on some figures, which I assume are part of the way the cape attaches.

This mechanism seen here is very interesting. If you look at the close-up of the grapple launcher from the scene in the Iceberg Lounge, the mechanism is different:

I wonder what the deal is with that. The one in the close-up what's depicted on the Hot Toys and Mezco Toys figures, so I guess it's the "canon" version. Also, the Fidlock V-Buckle is cut off at the part that would let us identify which one they used, so that's annoying. I wonder if it's not even a real V-Buckle, but a cast piece instead.

The section with the snaps for the belt on this shirt is slightly different from the bullet-ridden one from the end of the movie seen in The Art of The Batman, and it also seems to be missing the belt hook:

This is the suit that was on display as part of the tour in the US. The weathering on the belt can be easily matched:

I think the small UV light he used when looking at the rat maze is the only one of Batman’s tools that’s missing.
the grapple mechanism looks different probably because of the fact that he has 2 grapples on his vambraces. they couldve made them with different rail systems maybe because they either wanted variation or they had 2 working rail systems that they wanted to put to use or something. thats my guess tho

Does anybody have any recommendations for where to get chest plates, bicep armor, and shoulder armor for The Batman? Preferably in urethane?

you could probably find some STL 3D print files online but im not sure of anyone selling them in urethane. you could get the 3d files and make molds and cast urethane though, if you know how, it seems tedious

You're welcome to join "the batman 2022 (costume group) and "the cowl vault" on facebook. Both are really good groups with tons of people making and offering what you're looking for. Great communities and a plethora of knowledge and part sourcing available from budget builds to pro level makers. If youd'd like to 3D print your own, I have some files from thingiverse I can share. Not screen accurate, but look really great and damn close to it.

Any and all reference pics are appreciated

Another minor find for tonight: after staring at some display pics I eventually deciphered enough text to find that the ring on the front of the belt is a Makefast 50mm Triangle with Nylon Bar

Building my own Battinson suit little by little. Boots, gloves done. Spats need to be done though. Gonna order the base suit from WSL. Still need to track down cowl and armour pieces.
The belt is done except for weathering and sticky grenade gun and cannister (never received my order from Etsy).

Ordered the triangle from Makefast too although I’m a bit puzzled:
How is the triangle attached to the belt? It seems to be affixed near the buckle but any idea how? Might be that I’ve missed a post - if so, I apologise.

Off topic: Anyways leaving the finishing of this suit till next year since renovation budget got upped by 15k (yeah, the water heater tank is busted and gonna do a modification on the heating system to lower the energy costs as I live in Finland). Already spent almost the same amount on the reno. Anyways due to lack of funds and time, going to be Cap for Halloween this year. Off topic end, sorry.

Yeah he manually retracts the grapple most of the time
i believe the cables are something like harness cables or something that attaches to the vambrace/gauntlets because its easier and less painful if you grapple with a harness(theres a video of this guy making a built IRL grapple gun and he said its easier to use a harness) so i think its believable that theres a secret harness under the flightsuit/torso armor shirt piece that has arm cables coming out that secure onto the vambraces so he has a harness that helps pull him up when grappling.

Can anyone show how you paint the Bat Knife/Chest Plate ? What type of paint you used ? The techniques ? I haven't done this before.. It's a two separate urethane magnetic pieces that go on the chest.

What the movie did was paint a layer of silver paint then sprayed it with a sealer. Then ten they took acrylic black paint and painted the rest. They used alcohol to whipe away the blade part and used somthing like a pin to create the scraches. Thats mostly what I did with mine. I had some issues with the blade part so I just dry brushed that.

Robert mentions that the first time the grapple was used was the only time it ever worked perfectly. Perhaps they made the simpler Taxi Driver style so they could keep filming without issues.

On the "hero version", the gun seems to actually fold below the reel to wrap around the grapple in the retracted position, thus sitting more out of the way. Also, the "hero version" uses a shorter track since the mechanism swings out at the front.

Looking back at the image from the Iceberg Lounge, I believe that the rail actually goes back farther than the gauntlet, but was filmed to hide this. The gun is rigidly attached to the sliding bar, so when it starts in the retracted position, it must be sticking far down his arm.
i believe he has 2 different rail systems on his vambraces. for the one he uses in the iceberg lounge, that one is on his right hand. the hero version shown behind the scenes, is the one on his left vambrace. and i think theres a slide thing in or on one side of his handle that slides on the rail, then when that locks in place, the rest of the grapple retracts. theres a short clip of glyn dillon using the one from the ice berg lounge and the handle slide thing can be shown better

Yeah, it's quite flexible. It has magnets on the back to clip into place.
I would do a small test in the back to see how well the actylic and sealing spray (I used Krylon) works on the plastic. For marking it up with scratches you might want to do all crybrushing so you dont cut gooves into the plastic (unless you are ok with that)

I would love a list of items. I've been tempted to give it a chance. I've never done it before. This tread has been useful and helpful.

What I used (in order)

Krylon primer
Krylon Silver spray paint
Mondo (Target brand) Arcylic Black
A pin (in your case maybe somthing a little duller)
Mondo Arcylic silver for touch up and dry brush
Mondo Arcylic Orange
Krylon sealer spray (matte)
